It's been over two years since I drew my last realistic Pokémon. Here's Torracat to continue with the Sun & Moon starters.

After I started my PhD my art output decreased quite a bit. Apart from some Inktober illustrations last year and the base lineart for a few in the works (including this one), I had not completed a digital Pokémon illustration since May 2016! Needless to say I'm very behind on the series but I do have the other Alolan starters ready to go.
I label my Pokémon interpretations "realistic" because I try to re-imagine them with plausible anatomy in a realistic setting, taking inspiration from real-life animals or objects. Torracat was inspired mostly by lynxes, given it's rather large limbs and facial fur. I wanted to add a smooth transition between Litten (house cat) and Incineroar (tiger) so I think a lynx with modified anatomy was somewhere in the middle. The "bell" is essentially an organ that is swollen with heated fluid.
Drawn with Photoshop CC + Wacom Cintiq 24HD, possibly 12+ hours. I hope you guys like it!
