Description Hi everybody! Thanks for reading this tutorial
This is for everyone who loves Mudkip just like me

Some rules first:
1.) do not claim to be the creator of this plushie-pattern! Giving me the credits would be nice
2.) do not make money out of this. It's a free tutorial so everybody can sew himself a Mudkip if he like.
3.) When you are uploading your Mudkip somewhere post a link to this tutorial, so people who like yours can do one themself ;D

The pattern:

for the head: [link]
for the body: [link]

This pattern is for a ~21cm high Mudkip in a sitting position. Please keep in mind that the idea was to sew a baby Mudkip! Its comb, tail and cheeks are smaller than usually.

I wanted the pattern to be easily to understand. Thats why I added some numbers and a color to every pattern
The meaning is like that:
(number from 1 to 11) = I used the numbers in the tutorial, so you know which pattern to use
2x = I think it's clear, but anyway: you have to cut out this pattern two times (or as many times the number says)
2/2x = here you have to mirror the pattern, so you need two parts from each side
O = the circle on pattern (8) means, that you have to sew this sides together
Color = I used the colors of the classic Mudkip, so it's clear which part should have which color
dashed line = this part will be left out while sewing

Choise of fabric:
I would recommend to you to use a "soft" fabric. This Mudkip is a small plushie. When you use a fabric with a hard backside, like many plushs have, it can be difficult to sew.
For the cheeks you really should take a fabric that not unravel when left open. I myself use fleece or felt for something like that.

When you have questions, or my english is so bad, that you don't know what I'm typing about, please ask!
I know my english sucks....

Have fun while sewing and I hope there will be soon more Mudkips on DA!

Hiya! This is so cute!
Can I ask a question?

How big should the patterns be printed out, and how many meters fabric would you want for to make the Mudkip? (and heck, Raichu and Jolteon too -I'd love to try and make them sometime )

it is small and disproportionate bc the store only had felt and felt is not easy to flip especially the feet but i still love it

When you're sewing on something like the head to the body or, as in your jolteon tutorial, the spikes to the body, what kind of stitch or method do you used to attach them to each other?

How do you attach the eyes?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Renegar-Kitsune In reply to Chi-No-Kyouki [2011-04-05 21:32:31 +0000 UTC]

Simply gluing them on

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sorry to keep bothering but what type of glue works best?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Renegar-Kitsune In reply to Chi-No-Kyouki [2011-04-05 23:30:03 +0000 UTC]

I use superglue, but be careful: it hardens out very fast when it touchs fabric. I once even glued me own fingers to a plushie :'D

but mudkip has three like, cheek spikes
and I don't think he could sit like that :/
and it's sort of sad that all your plushies have the same basic sitting position

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Renegar-Kitsune In reply to S-helleh [2011-04-03 15:22:47 +0000 UTC]

I'm sorry that the plushie (or my plushies in general) isn't to your liking, but I guess not everyone would love them as much as I do. At least I can asure you, that the Mudkip has three cheek spikes

I don't think it's the same; Jolteon is floppy, and Raichu sits up. I think it looks cute- they are waay better than any of the "official" crap you can get on e-Bay. Seriously, I've looked around at them before, and they're pitiful, especially after seeing yours. I'm going to have a go at some of these patterns, I think

Im really curious, is this all hand sewn? Gosh, it looks so professional/ incredible. I am curious to what stitch you used when attaching the parts together? You can't even see it! Its awesome!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Renegar-Kitsune In reply to Tylon [2011-01-12 22:31:25 +0000 UTC]

I used the stitch described here [link]
And I use a sewing machine most of the time, but the Mudkip was handsewn
