Description To clear up my titles: Products are my long term projects that I've wanted to finish. Projects are creations that I make to learn techniques.

This is the Eva I have been trying to build all summer. Its black, white and blue, because that's all the colors I have right now. With this model, I tightened up my style and got rid of the bionicleness as much as possible.

Pretty convincing. The only way it could be better is if you were to mold certain pieces yourself. Good job.

Neon Genesis: Evangelion. It's an anime. One of the best in my opinion.

All right, I understand that the instructions to this would take too long to post, but what sets did you use to make this? And what would the total cost be?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

retinence In reply to kakatana [2011-08-15 01:13:58 +0000 UTC]

I don't buy sets. I buy individual pieces from Bricklink.com and Lego. I don't know the price of this one anymore. I can see it costing anywhere from $40 to $60 in pieces.

When you speak of style, what do you refer too? How many ways can one exactly put pieces together? Unless your talking about using specific pieces over others to erase a certain look.

retinence In reply to ExevaloN [2011-03-16 17:31:07 +0000 UTC]

There are millions of ways to put just a few pieces together. But my style is not necessarily how I put them together. Its a combination of what I emphasize, where I put detail, and how detailed I can be. Fans of mine can pick one of my creations out in a lineup of a thousand because its a unique way of building. Its similar to how many painters can paint the same object and they'll all look different.

ExevaloN In reply to retinence [2011-03-17 17:04:56 +0000 UTC]

I see. Well your work is extremely good and you made me want to try my hand at this. Any pointers? Which pieces do you tend to use more, Bionicle pieces, Lego pieces or a mix of both?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

retinence In reply to ExevaloN [2011-03-17 19:03:08 +0000 UTC]

I mix. I like to use Lego for detail and fine tuning the skeleton, and I use bionicle for covering and making a strong skeletal base. I make it look easy but it is one of the hardest styles of building. My advice would be to build freely until you are comfortable with the pieces and then find something you want to build and use references to try to build it. There's a good chance that whatever you want to build has been made so try to look for what others have done to get ideas.

Awesome, thanks. I've messed around with legos since I was a kid. In the last decade or so I stopped becuase of lack of good space to show my pieces. However, creating characters seems pretty nice and won't kill my small space.

retinence In reply to nebulax2684 [2011-01-08 02:35:20 +0000 UTC]

I do commissions so yes. For my older bionicle models it'll be around $80. For system models such as this one, $90. And +$25 if it's one of my larger models. Also, I have to glue it to survive shipping.

Admittedly, this is one of the better-attempts at a Lego EVA I've ever seen. Certainly better than that official Mega Bloks version they came out with a few years ago.

Good work.

Ahh you noticed that. Its a new technique I found that uses a lever to hold it on. I'm going to post a few of the techniques I used later this week.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

retinence In reply to Omanoct [2009-09-08 23:47:27 +0000 UTC]

Yup... It fits perfectly. Doesn't make the strongest of connections but it's good enough to hold itself still and on.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Omanoct In reply to retinence [2009-09-09 01:23:22 +0000 UTC]

Wow, I'd never have thought of using the levers...but I'll definitely have to play around with them.

Its a shame LEGO never found another way to use the visors...
