Description Finally, FINALLY after years of her just being up there, not established, not... anything, I've found a way to write her!
And what better way than shove her in another universe while  also dropping some lore about her?
Also, laughs. Apparently Mars is her own character now. I mean, not that I complain. I can't possibly love her more than I do right now.

More lore bombs coming on her blog, once I have some more stuff written.

Eventually her blog will be filled with goodies. Not for now though.

Biographical Information
Name: Mars Ryder
Age:
  • 20 (Final Fantasy VII)
  • 22 (Advent Children)
  • 23 (Dirge of Cerberus)

Affiliation: AVALANCHE
Occupation: Unknown

Physical Description
Gender
: Female
Race: LemurDragon (shapeshifted as human)
Height: 5'6'' (170 cm) human - 5'1'' (155 cm) LemurDragon
Hair Color: Blond
Eye Color: Light Blue
Blood Type: B+
Literality: Right-handed

Mars has two forms throughout her stay on Gaia - her LemurDragon form, and her human form.

While the LemurDragon form is rejected during the entirety of her stay, she does shift into her original aspect once to show the members of AVALANCHE that she's not infected with the JENOVA cells or Mako - something her eyes would prove otherwise.

Weapons and Powers
While she doesn't have a weapon of her own, she makes up for it with sheer force using her fists. She's not nearly as strong as Tifa, but she can enhance her physical strength through the use of her dark-based element - which is not connected to Materia in the slightest. The power is somewhat similar to Nero the Sable's powers, but instead of manifesting darkness to absorb or create objects, she uses it to overcharge her muscles and enhance her physical strength and agility.

Of all the Materia kinds in the world, she decides to master Fire and Time before everything else. Fire for its destructive nature, Time to enhance her agility even further and be able to land more hits more quickly, allowing her to use a hit-and-flee fighting style.

Personality
Mars is strong willed and kindhearted, both qualities that make her adapt and be somewhat accepted in the party soon enough, despite their constant worry and paranoia about the whole "alien" thing, which she keeps hidden for as long as she's able.
She's fiercely supportive, but she's not exactly upfront about showing it, preferring to instead give advice, nudge people in the right direction and sometimes through displays of physical affection.
She can at times act whiny, but she's mostly cheerful and goofy with those she cares about, acting like a drama queen to be made fun of and lift the morale by being overly dramatic.

Deep down, she's an anxious mess whose driving force is a veil of anger that never really goes away, and that permeates every aspect of her life. She's not angry at anything or anyone in particular, she just is - whether this is jealousy for not being a crucial piece of the puzzle, or it's the feeling of not truly belonging anywhere, she doesn't know.
She very rarely shows this side of hers, and would rather shut down completely than be a negative presence by talking about her problems.

Guilt Eyes
The "Guilt Eyes" as she has taken to calling them, are a condition that manifests whenever Mars feels sad, guilty about something, angered or betrayed.
In this condition, her eyes' pupil becomes slit like a cat's and also act the same way when reacting to light and darkness in the surrounding environment. She doesn't have benefit or hindrance from the way her eyes change, but they're a giveaway to the inner turmoil that she wants to hide. People also confuse the condition with the Jenova eyes, though the two are completely disconnected.

Limit Breaks

First Level

  • Anger Rush – Default limit for Mars. Runs towards the enemy and punches them three to five times, dealing 3 times normal damage.
  • Lunar Uppercut -  Use Anger Rush 8 times to unlock. Rushes below the enemy before uppercutting them with the right hand.

Second Level

  • Dark Strike – Kill 80 enemies. Covers arms in dark energy and punches the enemy multiple times, dealing four times normal damage.
  • Black Fury – Use Dark Strike 7 times. Releases a wave of dark energy that adds Haste and Fury statuses to the party. Raises Mars’ attack and defense by 50%.

Third Level

  • Dimensional Blast – Kill 80 enemies after obtaining Dark Strike. Summons a single energy blast from the sky, which causes five times normal damage. Hits a single enemy.
  • Dragon’s Rage – Use Dimensional Blast 6 times. Rushes in to attack random enemies 7 times, with kicks and punches, causing 3.5 damage.

Fourth Level (Final Limit)

Paradox’s End – Use the Paradox’s End manual after obtaining Mars’ other six Limit Break commands. Mars transforms into Paradox!Mars, a form in which she gains Haste and Fury, and her Attack increases by 100%. The form itself hovers above the ground, which means she’s immune to Quake. In this form, she has only two fighting commands:

  • Glitched Strike – Physically attacks for 2.5 times the normal damage to a single target.
  • Aberration Flare – Deals non-elemental damage equal to 5 times the basic magic damage. Hits all enemies.

Paradox’s End is, in writing, unlocked from the start and is used only during times of great distress and danger. She cannot control when the form takes over, but she has a degree of control over it, keeping her lucidity and awareness.

(The manual part is written to emulate what it would be like in-game.)

Trivia
  • Tends to change subject when asked about her scars.
  • Trains herself every day to keep her body well toned and in shape
  • Has considered letting her hair grow, but feels more comfortable fighting with short hair
  • Was absolutely heartbroken by losing her keyblade after jumping out of the Kingdom Hearts dimension.
  • Her native element is Darkness. It can be used in different ways depending on the dimension she's in.

How Mars Works - The Paradox

Ah yes finally - the LORE BOMB.

While Mars' homeworld was an Original one, the one in which she Jumped for the first time is a Paradox Universe. This was caused by inner turmoil, lack of sense of belonging and fear combined when doing her first Jump, which caused her to be forced out not only of her original universe's dimension, but to end up into a completely different Universe.

To simplify it, it's a Multiverse scenario where there's an Original Universe filled with various dimensions, all of which bringing to a different part of said universe, and multiple Parallel universes where there are also the same dimensions in each of them, but all these universes are different from the Original in a way or another.
[[LemurDragons usually jump between dimensions in either the Original universe, or in one of the parallel universes. The place in which they're born is a pocket dimension in the Original one, and they're left in either one of the parallels or in the Original. They rarely move out of their universe.]]

One of these parallels is a Paradox Universe, a place in which things are so strongly altered that the stories that would unfold in a way in the Original one would be drastically changed in the Paradox universe... unless an external factor comes into play.
By Jumping into a Paradox verse, Mars has the power of bringing balance to the world she's visiting, thus fixing the paradox. She doesn't take the spotlight and is in no way a hero, but only serves as an additional source of power and support for the people living in the world so that they may reach the same 'ending' that they would reach in the Original universe, or in any other parallel one.

For instance, in this FFVII AU, Paradox Gaia is altered in a way that would ultimately lead the main characters to their death either before meeting Sephiroth, by Sephiroth's blade or because of Meteorfall. While she doesn't play the role of the main character, she acts as a supportive side character whose goal is to push the main cast forward, help them defeat monsters and gather intel when necessary.

Mars does not know  about the whole paradox business - in fact, she doesn't even know about the existence of multiple universes, something that almost all LemurDragons know.

Spectacular ref!! You never stop improving and making them look awesome. And damn, Mars looks so beautiful and cool, I love how she looks like she could kick anyone's ass, nice job with those muscles. The clothes are very fitting for her.
I love her tattoo. The addition of that drawing in the bottom left corner is fantastic, I like that style.

Thank you so much for your wonderful comments, as always!
The bottom left is actually made to look as closely as possible to the original FFVII overworld sprites! vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/le…

Love the FF7 style model, what's her weapon of choice? Also, Limit Breaks?

The weapon is HER FISTS.
I'm going to go in detail as how it works once her ref is done, but she's pretty much the embodiment of a Monk class in early FF games - high physical strength, lower magic adaption. She uses her inner element to enhance herself physically rather than to fight!

Go punch Sephiroth in the face (even though he's like my fav FF character XD)
