lol, I think nearly a month without art is unacceptable, even if the Hanson photos are awesome

This was a picture I finished this afternoon, unlike "The Switch" which was done over two days. The poem was written last night.

I was dreaming about my two novel characters, Bill and Camille. When they're in fifth grade, about 11 years old, they go on a field trip with their class to some sort of recreational park. It's on a nature walk that they get separated from the group, and separated from each other. It isn't until the sun is nearly down when Bill, still called William at this age, finally finds Camille. Deciding to stay where they are, they wait for help as it grows dark.

Sitting their flashlights together, the two don't talk much at first. As the leaders of their class, they're often the ones to break up fights between the boys and the girls, but aren't exactly close themselves. Though they were best friends in Kindergarten and 1st and second grade, by third grade, they had other friends, and were starting to quarrel, behavior typical for their peers. However, that's not quite how they really feel.

Infact, both of them want to be friends again, and it's while they are alone together that these feelings begin to spill out. But before they can relax, a snake crawls out from under a bush. Bill sees this, and puts himself between Camille and the snake, only to be bitten on the leg as he is moving. The snake flees, and the area around the bite turns black and blue as neurotoxic venom flows into him.

As the hours pass, Bill grows weaker, but stays in good spirits, seeing Camille fall apart. The subject of Bill dying never arises until he can feel his legs numbing up on him to the point where he can't move them. As she holds him, the feelings come out. Camille confesses she always loved Bill's long hair, and only made fun of it to keep her reputation among the girls. Slightly shocked, Bill confesses he only went along with being mean to her to stay on the good side of his friends. They want to be friends again, but it almost looks like they've run out of time, as Bill suddenly finds it hard to breathe.

Camille, holding him as tightly as she can, begins to cry again, and begins to speak the first lines of the poem, telling him later she'd much rather follow him then to stay behind, (which if you read Two True Loves as I update it you'll see why. She only has a father that's not there for her at all). Though he's weakened, Bill makes up the last two lines in reply and tries to smile at her, before falling silent. Trying to sleep, Camille takes little comfort in the fact that he still struggles to breathe, and mouths the words, "I love you William." Luckily, Bill's end of the poem comes true, when they're both found and taken care of before the venom can claim its victim.

But yes, that's the story of the poem. I came up with a lovely image of Knuckles and Amy lying side by side, with the picture themed around this poem. Obviously Amy would speak the first two lines, pleading with fate to have her heart broken, (which obviously means, letting her spirit follow Knuckles) if she were to lose him. Then Knuckles has the last two lines, pleading with fate to live, so Amy can as well. Either way, they simply ask to be together when they wake up.

Warms your heart and brings a tear to your eye eh?

I added the black bars in MSPaint. I liked the framed look. That's my handwriting...obviously it looks better when I take my time Now for the poses...I think both of their legs look wonky...Amy's are supposed to be tucked up, laying one on top of the other. Knuckles...I think his are really off X3 Obviously one is draped over the bent one. I always have to remember they won't look as lean as usual because it's at a side angle but...blah, that's why they call it practice

Legs aside, it's a great picture I think. Their hands came out awesome here, especially the two they pressed together. It has its problems but in the end I love the picture <3
