Very nice tutorial, I gave it a try.
I understand everything except the "expand to 120" bit...
Expand how and what exactly? I'm quite new to using photoshop so I don't know what it is
Also ctrl+alt+d did not allow me to do feather but shift-F6 did, maybe a different version of photoshop

The expanding bit refers to expanding the selection you have at that moment. If you go from the menu, Select -> Modify -> Expand. Or Alt+s, M, E. I'm using PS CS3. Hope I cleared it up
