Description TeraMatix Class Light Cruiser
Race: Gorn

Nearest federation equivalent: Voyager, Intrepid Class.

A fast manouverable combat vessel with a good punch for its size its one of the first new ships to be developed by the Gorn since the Dominion War.
First encountered by the Federation during the Triumvirate War 10 years after the DW it was one of the mainstay ships deployed by a newly aggressive Gorn Hierarchy.
The Federation is still very weak after the DW and the distant frontiers of the southern Federation is rife with crime, piracy, border skirmishes and general unrest. Its the Old West all over again. USS Thunder was part of a small taskforce sent to the deep south to reinforce the border and act as the 'local Sherriff' to clean out the bad guys.
During their 2 year mission they discovered a gorn plot to annex a small peninsula of federation space rich with resource bearing worlds. This area has over a dozen star systems which provide the Federation with many resources. However the nearby Gorn want these systems, unknown to them the Tholians also want these systems an a bitter 6 month conflict broke out between the Tholians, Gorn and Starfleet. The final blow came at the battle of the three navies where over 400 ships of three sides battled to the last with the Federation as the winners.

The Teramatix has excellent forward, port/starboard weapons but poor rear weapons however its speed and turn rate makes the ship difficult to approach from the rear.
Its shields are light but can withstand a greater range of energies and has a very fast recharge rate. Almost as fast as you can knock them down they can rebuild.

Weapons: X2 medium Poleron Enhanced Phaser Nacelles, X1 PE phaser strip port and Starboard.
X1 Aft Plasma Torpedo launcher
X2 forward Plasma torpedo launchers.
X1 Close Contact Energy sphere generator for ramming.

(based on Klingon Academy Gorns.)

Commenta always welcome.

I like this design almost dagger like and its great to see a ship from the Gorn we see and hear so little of.
How about an Orion ship?

Interesting concept even with non-existence of Gorn spacecraft images (that I know of), and the colors could be a hard decision, but I think Gorn ships are white/pale grey.

Nice, good to see someone's trying to do something about the lack of Gorn info.

I like the Gorn, they seriously need a makeover. Maybe a subspieces of Gorn that does all the Donkey work, the big Gorns you see are the upper echelons of Gorn society.

I'll have to knock something up i think.

The Gorns are woefully underused, infact i think they can do a new ST series set 10 years after the Dominion war that focusses on the lawlessness and break up of the Federation and the rise of crime and unrest and the adventures of a Tactical vessel assigned to try to sort it out.

Eh, I don't know if I'd break up the federation, but policing the outer rim of explored space would be interesting.

What i mean was not so much as 'break up' but the Federation trying to stop it.

I'm not familiar with much of the background you supplied, but this is a nice looking design. You seem to have a good aesthetic sense, but your drawings frequently look very grey.

Thats because i grey scale the drawing. I'd rather keep the tint but because i work on a larger scale than my scanner can handle i get left with a lot of contrast lines. I greyscale to help lose the lines.

I understand. Capturing line art can be a problem.
