Description It is a rare day indeed when I post an original/traditionally
painted piece - but I couldn't resist with WAVE RUNNER.
The large white area is a layer of Acrylic Gel Glossy Medium
over which I poured and dabbed on W/color. While the color is
wet, I apply plastic wrap, which violently reacts with the
paint, spreading it into sections. With the dried gel below,
it took two days of dry time, before I could peel off the plastic
wrap. Then I enhanced the Runner's head at top. It's
whimsy, it's paint and oh, it's gesso (dried)squirted on for waves.
I don't like to plan much....as you already know. DG

When I'm trying something different, agony often accompanies the process. That's not fun. I'm always more happy HAVING painted, than actually painting. Thanks much, Bear.

I can honestly say that you're one of my favourite watercolor artists. I love the boldness of your strokes and colors.

Dear LL - I can honestly say that your comments just made my day.
Back in the 80s and 90s I more or less painted representational scenes -
to win awards and for possible sales within and without galleries.
But now a days, I don't plan much. Just don't want to get too cookie-
cutter with my work. Thanks again for having noticed...

It sounds alot of fun!!!....I like the fact that you don't really know how it will turn out

Yeah, I don't plan well. And I love surprises, even tho much really doesn't
work well. But, heck, what are computers for anyway? In fact, I threw this
piece into Photoshop and did some variants I like better. One thing that's
super important when using gels, gesso etc (anything DIMENSIONAL) it is
really fun to experiment with shooting the original with a good digital
camera, exploring various types of light. Especially letting the setting
sunlight skim over the painting, and picking up shadows. Scanners are
worthless at this, even if one can afford one big enough to scan an 18x24"
painting. I surely don't...
Later and tanks for the comments. You virtually know all my secrets!

I am storing your secrets.....although I do know about digi cameras and light...I have some crystals set in the tops of my windows and when the sun shines through them I get rainbow colours everywhere...great for getting effects when photographing my devs D...I don't bother wih a scanner!!

Well, well Tricia. You don't know ALL my secrets...yet.
The idea is: to do something different, each and EVERY piece.
That way, no cookie cutter look. I like the work of composer
Aaron Copland...whether it APPALACIAN SPRING (tradition) or
INSCAPES (barely approachable music)...it's ALWAYS Aaron Copland.
He put his mark on each and every piece he wrote. As creatives,
we need to take a lesson from that...
