Is it quite alright that I just go about Faving things that aren't finished?
I suspect THIS is finished, but I'm nervous about the things like
7.2 and 2 of 6... collaborations
If I like it the way it is, am I out of line for FAVING something undone.. half completed

Faving the incomplete things is totally cool, I think we all try to have them be an artistic statement at every stage. It's a statement that's open to continuation, elaboration, etc., so it can go on. Uh... if that sounds a little pretentious... that's just the way it is

Not sounding pretentious at all...
Sounds MINDFUL.
SCHWEET... okay, now I don't feel like such an ass.
(was waiting for Kat or Weedlace to come up and be all like
"yo, you realize this shit ain't finished, right?")
I was seriously spending a lot of mental energy on that.

Thanks, wonderful word at Kat or Weeds saying that to you! But I do get it, you were respecting the work. Most thoughtful. And I wouldn't want either of those two having to be like that to me

I wonder what she is alluding to and if he will get involved. Classic film noir starting of a strange question asked in a nonchalant way

What a great read of the piece. I love how people see things that never occur to me when I'm making them.

Excellent work, sir. I don't have "the Committee" , but I do have Rice Krispies talking non-stop. Ya gotta do what's right and ignore the rest.

Thank you, James. Yeah, set a steady course and stick to it, let the Committees talk to the Rice Krispies. And vice versa.

Never would have thought to stain canvas board.
I'll have to try that.
It doesn't look like you soaked it, how did you apply the tea to the board?

RichardLeach In reply to NeuronPlectrum [2011-01-24 00:51:37 +0000 UTC]
I made myself a cup of tea, and when the bag had finished steeping I took it out of the tea and swabbed the tea bag - very warm - gently over the canvas board. I left it flat for a while, then stood it up - some paper below it - and excess tea drained off. It works really well. You can make it lighter or darker by how many passes of the bag you make, how much tea you leave on the board.

i lie how it follows a line, from up to down. and the dark pools. What are dark pools anyway??

thanks, that line really works.
the dark pools scrap came from a financial article, it referred to investments that are not "seen" by most investors. strange little phrase, so i cut it out.

Absolutely, this is probably the most influenced-by-him piece I've ever done, even more than the homage piece.

This is so finished. Yet so light on materials. I like how you are going with your instincts. I would have just kept going because of the available space. You were able to stop. Hat's off to you!

Thanks very much. It's good to get the positive feedback on a piece like this - it did feel right, but a part of my mind was saying "What are you doing?" It wasn't even the Committee talking - it was genuinely puzzled!

LauraTringaliHolmes In reply to RichardLeach [2011-01-23 01:51:39 +0000 UTC]
Hard to believe the Committee would take a back seat to the Puzzlers! But I think that signifies progress. When I have a puzzling moment, the Committee rushes right in. The committee members abhor a vacuum, as you know.

This is great. A sparse, beyond words kind of thing.
Brings one to imagine dark pools.
