Not a picture? Ah

...and a static poem....well...needs words (more or less)

The o must stand for originate, that would explain where the poems comes from, as it was not inspired by the missing picture.

The only drawback for you is that it can take weeks before I can interpret them

sacred words so
elegantly entangled like
lifes own constant changing in its
endless journey of
conflicting emotions
towards the
enlightenment of
differences

you know, sometimes I wonder about the differences between your writing and your visual thinking...
in your visual thinking (includes your journals) you're very minimalist,
while as in your writing - you repeat same "phrases" over and over again (I mean in the same piece)...
have you ever thought about that before?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RichardLeach In reply to iram [2012-08-21 13:17:41 +0000 UTC]

I have thought about it some, yes. My feeling is that the writing and the visual pieces are complementary, each of them goes to the places that the other form does not go. And by alternating them I get a sense of freedom - "okay now, this is visual, it doesn't have to do what the words do" - and vice versa - that is more or less the thought going through my mind when I go from one form to the other. I can be different in each form! And I enjoy that feeling.

The repetition in the writing is also because I am most often trying to create the feeling of a song - if not for the reader at least for myself. A sense of musical flow helps the words come as I write.

yeah... I hear the music when I read you

did somebody ever composed your songs?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RichardLeach In reply to iram [2012-08-21 13:47:26 +0000 UTC]

that's what I like to hear

most of the composing has been for words that are not here at dA - the sacred songs I've written since the 1980s. these are hymns and anthems and cantatas, and they have music from many composers. they have been sung all over the world - well not literally but in quite a few places

Mark Wade *Markus43 has recorded two of my blues songs and one of the other poems that are here at dA. Jim Sorby ~hoaxeye has done a couple as well. Mark's are available online but Jim's are only analog right now.

and there are odds and ends here and there too - non-sacred lyrics that are not at dA that one composer or another has set.

i will reply with a few links if you're interested and have time

The three by Mark are The Hard Blues, Under Water and Train Named Trouble.

A nice choral piece with organ is The Falconer. The words to it are here [link]

And here is a video from something of mine being sung in Geneva in May [link] Words here: [link]

That's a lot - just look and listen to what you have time for please!

oh... what a pleasure!!!!
I just love Mark's singing and composing, and the choral is soooo beautiful too...
well, the last one is a bit hard to listen... too much background noises and a bit amateur performance

thank you so much, Richard, for the links...
you're indeed talented and polymath!

Thanks. As I said to Hanan, I'm very happy with it, and it may be as far as I can go in a particular direction. Though I'll probably try other things out there too... wherever this is.

back to your lovely minimalism. or maybe pseudo-minimalism

RichardLeach In reply to partiallyHere [2012-08-20 15:41:36 +0000 UTC]

"pseudo-minimalism" - i like that.
my work table is so messy but these relatively restrained pieces emerge, it's like i'm pushing back against this chaos i have made myself!

thanks again

i like it a lot myself. i feel like i'm a pretty good creative groove at the moment. i'm working on a set of formal poems right now and i think it's making the other work looser and better in some kind of balance.
