Thanks, Yvette! I was going to go into town to shoot and did end up there for a while, but Staats suggested a walk in the woods and the light and the shooting were great

It's nice to have the options both so close at hand.

I hadn't walked by myself in the woods in so long - maybe not since I was a boy! Lots of hiking through the years but always someone else there.

There's a serenity to walking in the woods (either way).

Colours mate....

Your collages and camera work lack no purpose or the will to share thoughts carefully created.

Thanks for sharing mate.

Colornote [2014-10-26 16:59:11 +0000 UTC]

Amazing how this looks like several photos put together when it's just one, because of the water creating reflection. Β Very nice.

RichardLeach In reply to Colornote [2014-10-26 17:04:30 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, that's what I thought too, I wanted to capture that reflected area created by the rectangle cut-out in the sculpture as soon as I saw it. It was a very productive walk in the woods yesterday. Only yesterday!

Reflection on the water, right? ...I know it is not important, it is the composition; but I like to try to know!

I agree with Markus - it's a bit confusing, but that's part of the appeal for me.Β  The blue areas nicely balance the composition.Β  Nicely captured!

RichardLeach In reply to VicEberly [2014-10-26 16:55:19 +0000 UTC]

Thank you, Vic! That's what I thought about the blue too. I shot this several different ways and this one seemed to work best.

"..a right angle that doesn't look like one" ??

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RichardLeach In reply to LancelotPrice [2014-10-26 12:36:32 +0000 UTC]

The stone at left is at 90 degrees to the leaves and water to the right. The angle of the shot disguises that, I think.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LancelotPrice In reply to RichardLeach [2014-10-26 15:57:23 +0000 UTC]

So we're looking nearly sidewise to the edge of the water, or at least about 45 degrees. The weird thing is that it looks as though we're seeing the water on the right rather as though we're looking straight down at it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RichardLeach In reply to LancelotPrice [2014-10-26 17:01:38 +0000 UTC]

Yes it does - I think it has to do with the way I cropped this, if you saw the whole scene it would make more visual sense.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LancelotPrice In reply to RichardLeach [2014-10-26 17:34:48 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, Markus! Yes, there are reflections and a right angle that doesn't look like one
