Description A dog sled travelling across a lake near Yellowknife NWT. Canada. These are actual sled dogs, rather than your common Husky. They are smaller and thinner, raised for endurance, like marathon runners.

This sled was taking some tourists on a run around the lake.

Yeah I agree with the other comments, nice picture... and I believe that the musher is Grant Beck, 4 time Canadian Champion Dog Sled Racer. Also it looks like they are on Grace Lake when you took the shot, probably going to Kam Lake. Wow, I've lived here way to long. It's so hard to get a good shot of dogs running that fast. Kudos.

Wow, I didn't know it was Grant Beck. That's interesting. I saw the Becks race in Yellowknife several times. You're right - it was Grace Lake. They passed across the road in front of me when they came from Kam Lake so I waited until they made a tour of the lake and got the picture. There was also another small team approaching as they went unto Grace Lake and the dogs got all excited and tangled up. Grant had to get them all straightened out. I'm sure the tourists were thrilled with the whole event.

I think I lived there too long too. Glad I'm in a warmer spot now. Thanks for the comment.

So would I. It's one of the strange things that we do - if you live right next to something, you tend to overlook it.
