Temperament: A very smart, quiet and rather meek mare, lacking a lot of the fire typically seen in the breed but still hardy. She is level-headed even in tense situations and seems to always have a sense of what is expected of her. She has the air of a seasoned veteran in competition, whether it’s her first time in the ring or her fiftieth. When turned out, she’s always hanging around on the edges of the group – not really one of them, but eager to share their company all the same while she grazes. Tends to dislike being around stallions; will tolerate geldings.
Handling: Easy to handle overall; a dream to lead or ride, and is well aware of her personal space. Generally respectful and willing to listen, with a softer mouth and good sensitivity to both verbal and tactile cues. Being naturally smart and picking up on new tasks quickly, with an inclination towards being forward-focused, she needs a rider who is very directed to steer her attention; an uncertain, complacent or lazy rider will struggle with her. She gets bored quite easily and is prone to pacing if not kept active and focused. Has a long stride and a smooth skeggas.
