Description
Oh my 2:30 AM again. Locking the studio with one last render of my Free Trader. This time with a paint scheme probably well known among Traveller RPG folks. The Air/Raft also got matching paint job, so I think I call it a day.

I like it. Let me know if you ever put more scenery around it.

I do plan to add scenery around it, but my schedule is prohibitive at the Moment. Cheers

RL is an evil one, but thanks a lot for the "awesome"
I'll tell you the reason for the first part of that statement in an email later, Bill.

Not yet, but it seems to be a promising game.

Hi, I based the design on the MT Starship Operators Manual. Rob-Caswell has Deck 2 in his Scrapbook: Deckplans in the rough .
So the answer is: no I haven't drawn any plans myself

A classic. If he was still around I'm sure he'd be proud.

I hope so. I would have loved a lot more renders of his variant. Somehow he redefined it's looks just that bit that was need to make it my favorite 3D rendition so far.

Thanks a lot, John. This time it's only the texture job. I feel more comfortable with the tools involved nowadays, so I am currently adding color or color variety to my older stuff. It's a time killer though. ☺

I know what you mean. Back when I used to model from scratch textures were always the thing that slowed me down. Right now I'm kind of backwards now. Technology has left without me since then and what I used to use is obsolete and I need to relearn it if I'd like to use new modelers, which I want to do. Until then I'll just have to live vicariously through others

Yeah I remember us talking about old PCs a while back. So not much has changed for both of us, I guess...
My machines suffer badly. One went out as the power supply died with an audible bang. Scary.
The other coughs out hot air from an assortment of noisy cooler fans. It's only a matter of time until...
...well I might be doing pencil sketches then

yah, my current machine could probably handle it, but the more recent software I need to get and relearn. Of course an up to date computer would make it so much easier

You're absolutely right. Well Blender for instance is great if you've got an aging hot-rod on your desk, while DAZ Studio 4 kills it even with simple scenes. For major renderings I have the "Old Mighty" next door in my attic that packs enough processing power and RAM for the larger jobs (an old but still quite capable blade server). It's seldom used though, because of it's infernalistic noise silouette, prohibitve energy consumption and it's value as a backup

Ah, the iconic and famous Free Trader Beowulf! How can a true Traveller fan not know the name?

Oh yeah. Also it's very nice to see all those iconic ships being remade in 3D by some very talented folks (that's not necessarily including me, since I'm non-professional). There is so much variety even with a nearly identical model. ☺
