Description
Edit: I think I might have paced the tutorial a little unclearly. The book/mag ends when you close the cover. Not before that. Sorry for placing a conclusion in the middle. ^^'I misspelled 'Celshading'
Note: This is a pretty big file. Patience please. Also, this is a book. How would you open a book, do you think?
While you're waiting, a preview:
- CG tutorial!
- Celshading tutorial!
- Colouring process!
- Hair highlights, eye colouring and other misc stuff!
Anyway, it's pretty much my entire colouring process. It's not much, but I hope you guys find it helpful.
And since it seems to be the vogue these days, hey, people, if you found this helpful, then by all means, share it to the world. I don't license my stuff under the Creative Commons share alike license for nothing you know.
I'd appreciate it if you let me know/credit me before you go do it though. XD

I'll see if I have the time make one. For the colours, I'd recommend looking at a lot of reference materials if you want to get the right colours. Like, pick shows that you think have good colours and try to see if you can mimic them and whatnot.

Uh, sorry if this has already been asked but, how do you get your lines so smooth? Mine always look so pixelated. Is it just practice, or is it the tablet, or is it some kind of setting? btw great tutorial! I lurvs the book format

Mm, do you use the pen tool for your lineart? It should look pretty smooth by itself.
And thanks! Glad you liked it~

What do you mean the outline? Do you mean the dotted lines? Mm, look for the selection tool and click outside of the magic wand's outline. Or Ctrl+A should select the entire canvas and pretty much remove the wand's outline.
Sorry for the really late reply. orz

Hey :3 I have a question : How can you move lines ? I mean I have an eye, but I drew it to the wrong place, how can I move it ?

rifuu In reply to ShaggyChia [2010-09-30 17:51:22 +0000 UTC]
Mm, there's a move tool that'll let you do that. If you hold down ctrl, it also lets you do it.

Wow, that was VERY helpful. Unlike the tutorials that everyone else does, you explained how you use the blur and the water tool!! THANK YOU!!
Now hopefully I can take what you've shown me and apply it to my stuff too. Thanks a lot for taking the time to make this.
(Oh yeah, and the eyes. The EYES!! Thaaaaaaaank goodness.)

...when i use magic wand for any layer but the line art layer, my whole pic turns blue... Help!

rifuu In reply to TheCourt67 [2010-07-10 05:47:10 +0000 UTC]
Ah, yeah, it's going to do that. ^^'
What you can do is use the magic wand on your lineart layer first to pick out the region you want, and then, while it's still highlighted, switch layers to the layer you want.

the only thing that got me is;
the fact that when you use a bucket/magic wand
it will go through the whole page - select it all.
Can you help me on this?

Are you using the bucket/magic wand on your lineart layer?

xChloeTheCatx In reply to rifuu [2010-07-06 15:09:46 +0000 UTC]
no. im not - and its really confusing me -
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
rifuu In reply to xChloeTheCatx [2010-07-10 05:51:42 +0000 UTC]
Ah... Well, for it to not cover it entirely, you'll have to use it on your lineart layer. So the thing to do would be to highlight the area you want in your lineart layer, and then, while it's still highlighted, switch layers to the one you want.

i can't find where it says "clipping group". >.<
there's only "opacity lock", "layer clip", and "selection source".
