Well... Not for this technique, I'm afraid The whole point here is not to use grayscale (i.e. discarding all colour information), but to change colours in such a way that it looks as good as on paper, even after being scanned.

I'm really glad you found it helpful! And yup, PS CS4 is a marvel, lets you keep at least 70% of what you have on paper when you transform it into digital

leg-o-lass In reply to Mangaka-Yoshiaru [2011-11-09 19:34:49 +0000 UTC]
Why not? To me it looks like cleaning up - look at the first pic, how dirty and grey and ugly it is, and compare it to the end result - a clean, bright, presentable sketch. But ok, if not "cleaning up", which term would you use to describe the process I show in this tutorial? I don't mind changing the title if the goal of the tutorial will be clearer to the viewers

Mangaka-Yoshiaru In reply to leg-o-lass [2011-11-09 19:54:16 +0000 UTC]
I thnk it would be more fixing up, then clean up. Clean up is more of erasing lines to make a lineart. fixing up is changing the lighting like you did to make itlook better.

Very nice! Thanks for making it!
Usually I open it and just derp around with the levels and saturation until it looks as close as possible to the original.
Although that's not always possible. Did I mention that I hate scanners? xDD

That's true! Some of my big pictures I've had to do with a camera.... boy, is it an awful experience!
I'll have to go to Staples or something to get a scan next time.
No problem!
