WARNING: LARGE IMAGE OF LARGENESS.What's THIS? I actually made a TUTORIAL??
Yes. And I must say, after staring at a blank image for nearly 30 minutes before figuring out what goes where, I'm quite proud. ^^
This is tutorial #1 of 3 I have planned. The next two are of my most commonly used digital coloring styles. This one's just the beforehand method, so hopefully it answers some questions.
AND NO, NONE OF MY INKED PICTURES ARE EVER DONE ON THE COMPUTER. THEY ARE INKED BY HAND. Forgot to put that in the tut. XD

Oh, this helped me a LOT! I also use PS elements 3.0, and I couldn't find any other tutorials for it.

Only, I can't find where it says Multiply in the layers. I have duplicate, new and all that other jazz, but not multiply. Or..is it the same thing?

Duplicate is duplicating the layer. There should be a dropdown menu at the top of the layers that says "normal". It's in there.

thank you so much. i'm still quite new to photoshop (i'm used to paint shop pro) so there are a lot of things that i do not know how to do. This really is helpful because i too ink most of my line art by hand

I, Dumbass, have a HP Photosmart copier/scanner/printer/canopener/ferris wheel concoction that I can fiddle with my scannings with. (pardon my grammar) The scanned images (line art or photos) go into HP Image Zone and I can crop, screw with contrast/colors, flip, rotate, whatever. I LOVE the darn thing. 
Tuts help out more than people appreciate. Thanks for taking the time to put one up.

The Hell you say! Just go in to see what you've scanned, and your choices are on the lefthand side if you hit EDIT at the top (where it says IMAGE, EDIT, PRINT, SHARE and HELP) Then you're good to go. I'm not great with directions. If your HP Photosmart Image Zone software is in your harddrive, you're set to go. And Man! When this thing decides to pull a pissy fit on me, I get a LITTLE irate. Lately it's been a good little doo-bee. My Geek Squader friend checked it over...it was getting the wrong commands or something. It was all Geek-Speak to me.
