Aw, the shading looks so much better without the dodge/burn tools. That just makes it look like they're facing the surface of the sun.

Dodge/burn has the tendency to give images that 'over exposed' look. If you stopped one step prior, it would look a billion times better.

Rinermai In reply to AzuriaZyfire [2012-08-30 18:14:51 +0000 UTC]

I sgree somwhat, but personally I think it depends on what type of lighting you have and how strong, for example;

[link] This looks alot better without that with because of the colours being strong enough already I didnt think I needed anything more.
But this one ([link] ) I wanted it too seem almost too bright x')

But yeah I agree C:
Personal preference tho x')

but All it's saing is ;
cover the oeice with the main dark colour then add the light colour for the highlights.
#you can use the dodge and burn tools to make the colours more defined

I have Photoshop 7... not sure what version you have, but its next to the blur tool on mine... click the button next to it and there should be a drop down menu thing, clikc the one thats a black circle on a stick C:

Dodge lightens up colours that are already on the drawing, and burn makes them darker. It's a very good shading tool but you might need to stoke the area quite a few times before you see a difference in value, or turn up the intensity.
