One of my biggest struggles as a beginning costume maker was trying to do boot covers.  Specifically, leather boot covers.  While there are plenty of great tutorials for fabric, vinyl and spandex boot covers, I couldn't find any good tutorials that used leather.  Through trial and error, I developed a method for creating sturdy and authentic looking boot covers from leather.  While I would recommend having some previous experience with boot covers before attempting this method, if you are ambitious give it a try!  You can make any boots with this method, I just happened to be making my Twilight Princess Link boots when I decided to create this tutorial.  I hope this tutorial is helpful!

These turned out phenomenal! I was wondering how much leather do you recommend buying to make these?

Thank you! I can't really recommend how much leather you need since it depends on how large your boots are. However, you can estimate how much you need by creating your pattern pieces according to my tutorial, laying them out on the floor, and using a tape measure to see how many square feet the pattern pieces take up. Remember that each piece needs to be cut twice. Always buy a little more leather than you need in case of mistakes. Also, sometimes there are parts of the hide that are not usable. Hope that helps!

Can I ask exactly where you got your base boots from? Having a hard time finding good ones...

I found them at Goodwill. I thrift all of my shoes and boots by making rounds at all the Goodwills and thrift stores in my area until I find what I need. Sorry I can't be more helpful!
