For more photos of the props/armour I've textured, and to see the shuriken in use, take a look through my Wai-con photos (My sister and I are cosplaying FFVII Yuffie & Tifa and their AC versions). Another good method if you're in a rush is to brush graphite powder over the dry crhome paint; it get's into all the little cracks and because graphite powder is a natural lubricant it polises itself and the work you're using it on to create a metallic sheen that you couldn't tell the difference from. Incredible work!

This is very educational! I don't remember how I ran across this, but it's very nice.
I work with casting metal, and I've had success with (after working the metal to an awesome sheen) using this same technique with just regular acrylics, in a pinch, as long as you use a clear coat. I brushed more than I needed on, and wiped it off, leaving it in the crevices. All of my enamels had crusted over, so that wasn't an option for me! (Though in my case, I'm slow with painting and the enamels dry too fast for me.)
Also! I didn't catch what this was made of, but I really like where the blades attach to the center. It has some texture there at the joint, and it really adds to the metal look of it, because the joint looks like a weld!

*eye twitch* [link] I was happy to simply look at you guys cosplaying, but... that title startled me. Why? Well... My next cosplay for Halloween is gonna be KHII Sora. Now, that wouldn't stand out so much, if not for my name: Christine. OwO" I just hope I can pull off Sora and Yuffie as well as you guys! ^o^;
