Description
For more photos of the props/armour I've textured, and to see the shuriken in use, take a look through my Wai-con photos (My sister and I are cosplaying FFVII Yuffie & Tifa and their AC versions). [link]For tutorials on making the props & armour, I recommend Amethyst Angel's tutorials: [link] She does some amazing stuff!

Dude. I don't cosplay, but this is still a great tutorial. You put so much work into the costumes! I like to see that far better than when you see the thin and poorly made costumes. Still, it takes a lot of work and money to do that stuff!

An easier way to do the edges would be to cover them with painter's tape (the blue stuff- comes off easy without pulling up any paint) and then do the detailing. It leaves a much cleaner line. Any other desired nicks can be added as needed.

You don't know how much I'm glad you put this up -- part of my cosplay costume for a con in June invovles a scythe and I've been agonizing over how to make it look like real metal! XD Greath job and great tutorial!

So. Freaking. Cool. Actually, I can't actually remember seeing the texture on the shiruken when I saw it at waicon, but then again I would probabally notice if it looked bad rather than good...
Btw, I'm that crazy redhead at waicon who told you i'm a fan of yours .

I'm on props crew with my school's theatre program, and even though we've never had to distress metal, I will definitely keep this in mind if we ever do. I think it's really informative.

Awesome, and damn but that looks like a lot of work. That's devotion there, but then you could take those skills to any performing company and make props for them. Once again, fandom assits in real life. Take that, doubting parents!

Remeber though, if you're doing props for stage, the paint job has to be more obvious so that the audience in the back can see it.
