Good poster. Clear and to the point with examples. I don't use Photoshop, so it would be useless to describe how I would implement such a thing with my own sofware, but it's certainly a technique I'll keep in the back of my mind. Most of the time when I'm looking for diffusion, I shoot with an optical diffuser. I do bring out colors digitally using a variety of techniques though. Haven't delved too much into layering and blending. That's going to take some time to learn how to accomplish properly. I would caution anybody trying this technique not to blow out the highlights of their image. A careful use of tone curves can keep a hint of detail that might not seem so important on screen, but looks so much better on paper than stark white blankness.

Kinda for noobies, easy effect to get from jsut messing with filters, etc.
But none-the-less, it's a cool tut. And nice stocks used as well.

Great tutorial.. easy explination and easy to follow..
love the first sample image, but the second may have benefited from a different "before and after disection"
there is alot on the right that isnt on the left, for instance, the scattered clouds.. i think a diagonal cut would make quite a bit of difference

This is a great effect that can have alot of knowlege to be gained,
especially for beginner photographers.
I have my own style of intensifying images and all,
but this will be something I will definetly try out.
Good job.
