This is one of my favorite moments in the stage show. It's great to see fanart that doesn't involve E/C romance. (I do support the pairing, but there's too much fanart and fan fiction that focuses on it.)

Yeah, shippers tend to overwhelm the fanart genre. I love all PotO in general though.

I love this part in the show. The first time I saw it, I didn't know about it because I had only seen the movie. My expectations for it were so low. I remeber saying to my mom, "I hope the Phantom's as good as Gerard Butler!" When it was over, my whole view on the actor changed to, "Wow, Gerry sucks..." I haven't watched the movie since. Sorry for the rambling.

This is so amazing... it takes me right back to the production I saw on December. This was one of my favorite parts... the phantom's shadow kept on flashing onto the backdrop of the stage.

Also the angel on the curtain is meticulously done and the full view takes my breath away.

O. K. I am not sure I know how to give advanced critique. I am not an artist. I am doodler who has recently fell in love with the Phantom of The Opera.
All I can say is I am mesmerized by this picture. It is hauntingly beautiful and I hope Meg is one of the ballerina's being watched By Erik I assume one of the gas lamps has caused his shadow to show or if you are one that believes that the Phantom is more than a man then he is able to do this with some of his "magic". I love it and I am adding it to my favorites.

Ohmygoshes! I love this! You make excellent work of your paint, and the shadow is a brilliant idea. Very cool piece of art.

That is amazing. Love that the pahntom's shadow is behind the ballerinas and it's HUGE!
Um, is it OK if I use this pic as a referance for a Flash I'm doing? I needed to find a pic of the stage so I don't mess up. Please?

Why haven't I ever seen this before?? IT IS SO AWESOME. I barely ever see any good stage show art around here... I barely see ANY stage show art that is not a Music of the Night scene...
It's beautiful
PS: Did you paint from memory, have a reference or used a model/stock for any of the painting?

Thanks so much!
I agree. There isn't much good (non-MotN) stage phanart. Which is a problem I'm doing my best to help correct.
As for your question... I almost never use reference photos/models/stock, unless I am trying to achieve a good likeness of an actual person, or make sure that a certain detail is completely accurate. For example, in this painting, I used a photo of the dress that the ballerinas wear in this scene, but that was all. I didn't use any references for the poses. I haven't seen the show yet (tickets sold out ), so I relied on the description given to me by one of my best phriends, who has seen the show.
Glad you like it!
Also, I have several other stage paintings in my gallery that you might be interested it

Wow! for not seeing the show yet that is a very great painting!! There are a lot of little things in the show, like this scene, that make it so special because they are not in the movie. There is one part towards the end of the show that is absolutely great, but I don't want to give everything away!!
I try to collect stage show photos I find online because I barely see good ones!
Here are some photos of that ballet scene in case you are interested:
