This is the big assembly of the 'City in the Window' miniature. It's in the corner of a small room that leads into the main Museum (where I'm standing to take the picture). When all of the Miniature buildings are in place and the big window is installed the idea is to not be able to see the street below, everything just fades into the darkness below the window ledge (extra points if you can spot the teddy-bear keychain on the fire escape).

Everything in the foreground is 1:12 dollhouse scale and wraps around three sides to completely fill your vision. The models get smaller in scale and have less details as they go back into the distance. The furthest back models are in Model Railroad scales and built by other people we combined into the larger diorama.

In the very back corner we installed a sweeping curved 1/8" thin sheet of luan wood to be a background Cyclorama for distant clouds and to eliminate the hard vertical edge of the very back corner of the display. I installed some midnight blue lighting along the top back inside to help with the moonlight effect when the room lights are off.
Miniature Skylight details when lit up for night time:

After it was assembled & installed I built a 7/8 scale wood window and ledge in a turn-of-the-century style scaled down to frame out the overall display. (see video above for the final window). The surrounding walls are treated with vintage wallpaper that I darkened along the edges to look 100+ years old.
