1:12 scale brick building during early paint process. The blue tape protects the red bricks from overspray.

I base painted the stone walls window headers and arch in a flat base gray. To separate each stone in slightly different colors I use a brush with water diluted paint and a second brush with just clean water. I apply just a bit of the shaded paint and immediately drag out the pigments into the clean water with the second brush for a really nice fade effect with the colors. Make each stone have very slight differences & unique characteristics. After this I dip and old toothbrush into slightly different paint and run my thumb across the bristles for a very faint speckled stone texture. Keep adding layers over layers while changing the colors ever so slightly.
