Description
I made the arched dome removable to access and clean the subway tracks. In the foreground is some of the pedestrian stairwells to transfer to other subway platforms or exit to street level. They are cut at sharp angles because it's the edge of the miniature display so it's like a cut-away.

The floor tiles are scored sheet styrene glued to the wood sub-base. I didn't want the tile pattern to just continue straight through the curve so I used a wider band of square floor tiles at the base of each arch to reset the square patterns. The arched dome ceiling locks into the notches along the edges where the tiles end.

The stairwells follow the same curve as below so I always squared the tiles with the top tread of the next stairway going down. The floor tiles on the lowest level just follow parallel to the straight subway tracks. I added "safety yellow" to all of the tiles along the edges. I didn't bother painting the tile grout way in the back where it can't be seen from the side edges of the model.
