I made this wood sculpture to show how 8 tetrahedron relate to a single Octahedron. The tetrahedron dont touch in this all wood model, but if not for the wood thicknesses, the 8 Tetrahedron would all meet at a single point in space whch is also exactly the centerpoint of an Octahedron. The Tetrahedron and the midpoint of the Octahedron meet exactly at right angles to each other therefore the median angles of both polyhedra are directly related.Related content

I think the outside edges of the tetrahedra make a cuboctahedron.

thats right, and if you start with an Octahedron and have all the outside vertices meet in it's exact center, you get the same geometry angles as 8 tetrahedron. It's so cool how they relate, they just dont quite meet because of the wood thicknesses.
