There's a reason behind its mimicry. Mostly due to a hummingbird's size, much like a small dog, they often feel threatened or intimated by larger animals. These moths mimic hummingbirds as a defense, because hummingbirds are surprisingly aggressive, and will attack larger animals that seem to threaten or intimidate them.
