Omg! It's amazing the way the light hits just right for those puppy dog eyes. Hehe I get miniature versions of this staring up at me almost every day, cuz my cats are spoiled. Anyways, this photo is adorable and awesome!

Thanks. The one thing I noticed this past time at the zoo is that this clouded leopard has huge eyes, especially considering his body size. It reminded me of those old cartoons you see where the really sad puppy makes those huge glassy "please give me whatever I want" eyes. I'm pretty sure I lol'd when I first noticed it.

What can I say, I was inspired. Sometimes names for my pictures just come to me. And sometimes they don't (see "Intense Snow Leopard," Intense Leopard," and the aptly named "Intense Leopard 2"). Glad you like the picture.

It's so priceless that if pricelessness were money, it would be very expensive. ...Or something like that...

lol, that was pretty good there man. thats pretty great (title/comment stuff)

as for the picture, i like it, i just wish it was a little more frozen/stopped i.e. a little sharper and zero motion blur

robbobert In reply to gokuyert [2006-01-10 22:24:03 +0000 UTC]

Yup. But at least I know it was no fault of my own. My equipment just isn't quite fast enough (I need an f/2.8 like no other). The eyes are really the only part nearly in focus. I probably could have underexposed it and then fixed it when I scanned, but I wasn't thinking that far ahead. When i get $5000, I'll get that f/2.8, and motion blur will be no more.

That cloudy is really cooperative and you get the most GORGEOUS pictures of him! He's so pretty!

Yes, he's quite cooperative. I thought this was one of the first pictures I'd taken of him, but I just realized that he's the same clouded leopard as from the very first pictures I submitted to dA. Fancy that. Thank you for the compliment.

Hehe, no problem! I'm so glad I found your gallery. Cloudies are my absolute favorite animal... and they're just not that common. You and your cooperative cloudy provide me with so much eye candy.
So are there two cloudies at the zoo you go to then? Where is that, by the way?

Actually, from what I've been able to gather, there are three at our zoo (San Antonio Zoo). But there are only two enclosures, so one of them gets a days off every day. This guy is the one that I get the best pictures of, however. I went back through my pictures a while ago and compared spots on each of the clouded leopards in my pictures, and I came back with at least four different leopards, but apparently there are only three at the zoo now. Maybe the others were moved off to other zoos...

Ahhh, I see. I'm jealous! I'd love to see that zoo, it must be fantastic. I've never gotten to see a cloudy in real life. Hopefully some day! In the meantime... more photos please!

Actually, he's very gentle (or so I'm told by the keepers).. Allegedly, you can go up and scratch under his chin and he'll rub his head against you. But somehow I don't think scratching out your eyes is completely out of the question. Know what i mean?
