Oh, this is Baha! I don't know if you heard, but a few months ago Baha was killed by another tiger, a visiting male...

She's such a lovely tiger-- what a sweet, fluffy face. I never got to see her in person, so I'm happy you helped immortalize her with your photography. Fantastic shot, as always!

I had heard that she died, but I didn't know the circumstances. Poor girl. I wonder why the zoo had them together if they hadn't been acclimated to each other yet. I guess there are always risks, even if they looked like they were getting along beforehand. Very sad to hear. Thanks for the kind words. I really loved photographing this girl and her former mate Castro. Quite a lovely pair, the two of them.

Oh yeah, big cats are so unpredictable! Apparently Baha and Mohan, who was to be her new mate, got along perfectly before officially being let loose together. You can read the full story here if you'd like. Ah it's so heartbreaking... but the Sac Zoo gave her and Castro a good life.

Thanks. There was a shot similar to this that got a daily deviation years and years ago, and I've wanted to take a shot like it ever since. I'm getting closer. Still haven't pulled it off yet, but I'm getting close. Glad you like it!
