Here is an old one! This is the left side of a diptych painting I did for an old friend and neighbor back in 2005. The setting is actually this guy's mother's back yard who lives in the neighborhood where I grew up. She is of Scandanavian heritage and loves trolls.Related content

It looks rather peaceful, but from reading the other comments and your answers I get the feeling they can be rather scary, but only for the ones disturbing them I suppose.

trolls really do vary per culture huh? These ones are more gnomish or elfish. Trolls in fantasy are usually big creepy giants.

It was a cool idea by my client, after his mother-in-law passes on some day, he wants his son and daughter to inherit them. Kinda cool, I don't know if they will want them, but it is fun to know that he is treating them like an heirloom., i went to high school with his kids, so that will be weird.
