Wow a Federation starship with landing legs that actually make sense... that doesn't look like it wants to fall over forwards. *cough*Voyager*cough*

Yeah... I with you in that view. Seems like nearly every Starfleet vessel now has the ability to land, which is absurd.

Archer, Archer.... is this the same class of ship Phaeton99 is workin' on?  You two should collaborate.  The man's a mastermind at starship blueprints, and you clearly have the photorendering in hand.

I don't know if it's the same. Gotta link?

From his ortho drawings, there's no real way to tell if his ship is the one you came up with.  He only has a schematic of Deck 1.  But Phaeton99 has a lot of good stuff.  I recommend visiting his gallery.

Another cool pic of a great little ship.

Dang, I wish there were some stories or videos based upon it or these pics

Well the Seeker series starts this August, with the first one centering around the Archer class ship, Sagittarius.

All it needs are one or two land vehicles coming from or going to the ship.

Butiful work, I could stare at it all day...but I hope the ship's nose is pointed at a high, sheer rock face.
How does it take off?

RobCaswell In reply to master-ninjabear [2012-11-30 18:32:23 +0000 UTC]

I'm guessing it lifts on nati-grav modules until it get enough altitude to kick in the reaction drive.

Nice new installment in the voyages of Rama ! One comment below noted Forbidden Planet and that is my feel to it also, the dramatic rockscape gives this a Chesley Bonestell era SF look.

That's really cool! It's a different palette than your usual - almost like something from a Vincent diFate painting; great job integrating the ship into the scene. Wow!

RobCaswell In reply to Ptrope [2011-11-13 20:27:52 +0000 UTC]

Yup - DiFate used a lot of cyans, which I don't usually. It's kinda neat if I can stay in my style and evoke DiFate at the same time!

Thanks! As with all these 2D/3D composites, I just take my lighting cues from the 2D background and try to integrate the two.
