Description
The hike along the Trail of Darkness is a long and draining journey. After what seems like hours you come apon a stairway."This is the end of your journey," Grosbeak tells you, "The treasure you seek lies at the top of these stairs."
Your feet ache, and your legs are bloodied from the thorns of the bushes along the Path of Darkness, but somehow you find the energy to sprint up the stairs. when you reach the top, you find yourself in a clearing, but...
"Where is the treasure?" you ask. "You said it would be here!"
"But don't you realize?" Grosbeak replies. "The treasure was not in the destination, but in the journey. You conquered your fear when most would have turned back. The knowledge of yourself that you've gained... That is the real treasure."
You can't help but smile as Grosbeak turns and walks back into the forest. "Thank you."
"And thank you for the berries."

I love this. The contrast between the sunshine in the upper portion of the image, and the darkness of the stairs down below is stunning. It's such a touching piece, especially when accompanied with that title. I really love it.

Good shot. The greens are great, and the stairs lead your eye through the photo well.
This is a hard shot to expose though. While the trees are exposed well, some parts of the stairs are over exposed and others and under. Try going back to this location different times during the day and when there are different weather conditions, compare the results, when did it look the best.
I'm assuming that the little thing in the bottom right corner is a watermark. A little pointer I learned from talking with a local artist recently, if people can't read or see your watermark/signature they wont remember you because they have no idea what your name/pen name/studio is called. If they don't remember you or know who you are they can't look you up later.

Thanks for the tip; the shot was taken at a nearby park, so I'll probably get the opportunity to revisit the shot sooner or later.
I usually only use that watermark when I'm posting stuff online here or on my portfolio, both of which have my name elsewhere. For the few exhibit pieces I've shown, I just stick with traditional signature on the matte board.
