Description
Here's another Italian Teen Titan, Carla Moretti, AKA Cinder!!!Born and raised in the small village of Montisi, Italy, Carla was the eldest daughter of her family, descended from Jewish immigrants who converted to Christianity in the Renaissance. Growing up in the lush and fertile hills of Tuscany, Carla used to go to a good school in nearby Sienna, where she gained a passion for art, opera, architecture, literature and fashion, and while at home, she also learned how to cook from her mother and nonna. However, she also was more interested in magic. Finding an old tome of magic incantations used by the Romans for blessings and protection against evil. All that changed, when her twin brothers, Dario and Lorenzo, both 8 years old, were seriously injured when one of them stepped on a landmine. Horrified, Carla used what magic she learned on her own to try and heal her brothers, who she loved dearly. As it turned out, Carla was quite skilled for an amateur mage, and could be excommunicated by the Catholic Church should the priest have found out.
This drew Trigon the Terrible like a bee to honey. He arrived to the scene after having possessed another villager's body, and he poured sweet words into the girl's ear, making her all sorts of promises, including to save her brothers. Beguiled, she accepted, but in the process was also cursed. Trigon made it so that Carla could control the fires of Hell itself, but nobody could even touch her, or risk being set aflame for all eternity. Trigon then went on to tell Carla that he would save her brothers if she killed the Teen Titans for him. Of course, Trigon had no intention of saving Carla's brothers, he only sought to make himself stronger, so he could take out his revenge. Once again, under the illusion that Trigon would save her brothers, Carla agreed, and made her way towards the Pacific Coastline of Jump City, California. Yet Raven sensed all that went on. When Carla came in sight of Titans Tower, she began to unleash her powers of hellfire for the first time, but it was Raven and Kid Devil who had to confront her. Kid Devil, having seen Trigon's physical form firsthand, told Carla that he was lying to her, and to prove it, Raven backed her mentee up, and projected into Carla's mind Trigon's true form, and what he'd done to the Earth once, and that it would happen again. At first she refused to believe what she heard, but then as Kid Devil held her close, she realized they were telling the truth. Heartbroken by this knowledge, she broke down into tears, as she was now cursed for all eternity. Yet there was a silver lining to all this.
Wally West, AKA The Flash, saw the whole ordeal, and asked Beatriz da Costa, AKA Fire to take some time off the Justice League to help Carla, as the two girls had similar powers. Beatriz told Carla she and the Titans would definitely help to control her powers, but that she should, in the meantime, settle down and attend Titans Academy as a high school student and develop a normal life. It was Kid Devil who encouraged Carla to join, as the two of them had something in common, and he was immune to her flames. Carla eagerly accepted, and took on the alias of Cinder, one of the Teen Titans!
Whew! That was long! Huge, huge thanks to for suggesting the idea of making Carla a heroine! In the comics, Cinder was one of the members of Titans: Villains for Hire, and was one of Deathstroke's subordinates. Her backstory was kinda vague, so offered the idea to have Trigon be the reason for her powers. Since she was also in the Italian Army in the comics, I figured I'd give her some reference to that. This version of Carla is very fond of Ancient Roman military tactics and battle strategies, and she usually talks with Bombshell about military related topics. She and M'gann do get along somewhat, but Carla keeps her distance, as fire is the biggest weakness for Martians. That said, she's always seen hanging out with Prysm, Solstice and Bombshell, since all of them essentially can't wear clothes due to their powers, and just go around naked. Carla also hangs out with Toni, as they're both Italians, and they have a lot in common, often talking in their own native language to make things easier. When she's practicing her powers of flight and heat manipulation, or just hanging out, Carla also has found fast friends in Nightstar, Robin, Blue Beetle, Green Lanterns Kyle Rayner and Soranik Natu, Hot Spot, Captain Marvel Jr., Grace, Damage and Supergirl, Superboy, Red Star, Nightwing and Starfire. For obvious reasons, she is also Raven's mentee, and the girlfriend of Kid Devil.
Disclaimer: Cinder belongs to DC Comics, Eric Wallace and Fabrizio Fiorentino.

There she is. She looks really good (and I'm glad that you go with keeping the character's natural hair and eye color, as opposed to how they're usually drawn in the comics). I take it the book is one full of spells (probably on loan from Raven).

Thanks!! The book is actually a textbook for one of her classes, but given that she's more likely to accidentally burn a book while reading it, she just has a kindle, or she usually shares with someone else. Also, Nightwing's made it clear that anything Cinder touches will be made fireproof. And her on-campus beach house is made of stone, not wood. That should lessen the danger of house fires. And when she's at her fullest, it turns into a walk-in oven, and she doesn't even use one since she uses her powers also for her culinary uses. Funny side note, she once joked that she could bake enough loaves of bread to feed an army! Though sometimes people can make contact with her whenever she's in the water, as it cools her body off, so by that, even she and M'gann can spend some time together, either in the Pacific Ocean, or in the pool. For bathing, Carla usually has to take a special ice bath outdoors. All we need now is to give her a roommate.

Her beach house could be brick built. As for a bed, it could be made out of fire resistant foam, and the sheets could be the material nomex (a practically fireproof fabric that gets woven into firefighter suits). One upside to her burning touch, is that if other Titans want to use the pool when it's cold out (like in winter), Carla can heat the water up to whatever temperature is comfortable. As for her roommate, there is a character who could certainly withstand whatever amount of heat Carla puts off. That character is Sigrid Nansen/Icemaiden. In the comics, she became part of the Global Guardians after given her powers, and then she sort of served as Tora/Ice's replacement when she was presumed dead, and wasn't really featured all that much when Tora came back.

I was just going to say that the bed could be fireproof as well. Thanks! And that burning touch for the pool would be good, even though the Titans regularly drain the pool in the middle of autumn to prevent the ice from forming. I'm sure we could include Icemaiden in there, even though she was also a member of the Justice League. Though she did have an encounter with Warp, who was an enemy of the Titans and especially an enemy of Beast Boy given that he was on the Brotherhood of Evil. Plus, everyone starts out somewhere. Fun side note, Robin could give her Mr. Freeze's cold gun, since he operated it twice when he fought against Inque. Oh, and Sigrid would definitely be great to have fun with since she's bisexual, so that could make it much more inclusive.

Your version of Sigrid could be younger since she's starting out with the Titans. In the comics, she had self esteem issues, and felt like she was just a second rate copy of Ice, which could be one of her character flaws. Her bisexuality could have been a sensitive subject for her at first, but one person who could be a great help for her could be Lilith/Omen. Since Lilith is telepathic, she and Sigrid could talk to each other about sensitive things without the others finding out.

Ooh!! Those would be so perfect! Self esteem issues and a fear of rejection! Those are two huge issues that any teenager would face. I mean, at first Cassie had issues with self esteem on the first day of school at Titans Academy, so that'd work just fine. And the talks with Omen could be possible, maybe Raven could help out as well, since her role would not only be as a mentor, but also as a school nurse and guidance counselor, helping some of the students with therapy to improve their academic and social lives if they need it.

Given her esteem issues, one character who she could have a relationship with is Matrix. In the comics, Matrix had the same issues when she became the new Supergirl, so that could be something they both could bond over.

That would definitely be fun to explore! I imagine Matrix would be Supergirl's mentee, since my version of Kara follows the Jeph Loeb/ Michael Turner Supergirl origin story, but with a slight twist. Instead of being taken to Themyscira to train, Kara was sent to Titans Tower to train with the Teen Titans both to learn how to control her powers and so she could socialize and interact with other teens like her. It was also the Titans who helped save her from Darkseid twice. Once on Apokolips and the other just outside of Jump City. I felt it was kind of unfair for Kara to be treated like she was 5 by Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman, so I just wanted to treat Supergirl in her origin story with the respect she deserved. Plus she was able to become fast friends with Starfire, since they're both alike.

One way of distinguishing Matrix from Supergirl, could be for Matrix to have a Bizarro like appearance (pale chalky skin with cracks in it), since Matrix copying Kara's DNA could have degraded it slightly. If she looked like that, then she and Sigrid could relate to each other over their appearance (since Sigrid has permanent blue skin and white hair).

I think we could do that, though she's also a fallen angel, so there are some aspects of that that I would like to incorporate, such as dark colored bird wings, maybe even give her a sense of trying to appease God but unable to attain grace for what she did. The copying of Kara's DNA could definitely be something we could explore as well. Maybe with this version we could have her be an actual fallen angel rather than a creation of Earth Prime's Lex Luthor, and she'd still have shapeshifting powers as well, but I thought we could make things more interesting since in the comics, Matrix is the Earth Angel of Fire. Would that sound alright?

Well, since Luthor is always trying to find ways to destroy the heroes, he could be the one who created the Matrix being (the physical body) as a means of infiltrating the Justice League and Teen Titans (since Matrix is a shapeshifter). The downside is that Matrix alone is just a shapeshifting being (it could also have the ability to copy powers if it contacts superpowered people, similar to the character Parasite), and isn't sentient, so it wouldn't be able to interact with people. If Trigon clandestinely found out what Luthor was trying to do, he could offer his assistance. By killing a human, and transferring their soul into Matrix, it would become sentient, and Trigon could keep control of it a lot easier. His victim could be the human, Linda Danvers (since Linda was the fallen angel in the comics). The attempt to destroy the Titans with Matrix could be foiled by Supergirl and Raven, and Matrix could be in contact with Kara for a bit too long (which is how it could copy her DNA), which would make the power copying permanent (kind of like how Rouge got Ms. Marvel's powers permanently in the X-Men comics). Raven could break the link between Linda's soul and Trigon, and Linda would regain control. The part about her being the Angel of Fire could also work out, since Trigon's influence upon her soul would leave remnants of his connection to Hellfire.

Yes, he is, and in particular, Superman. However, my take on Luthor's at one point been incarcerated at Arkham Asylum when he went insane after injecting himself with a combination of liquid Kryptonite and Venom (The steroid used by Bane). Though considering both Superman and Supergirl are both on the JLA at this point, we could have Matrix be created in part by C.A.D.M.U.S. Labs. Now, bringing Trigon in would definitely work. And rather than just outright killing Linda Danvers, I was thinking she'd be captured by the Church of Blood and killed as part of a ritual for human sacrifice to appease Trigon. This could also mean that Trigon could also override Luthor's program to have her infiltrate the League, and have her destroy the Teen Titans. The part with interacting with Kara and Raven could also work as well! Sorry for the late reply, I've been busy as of late. Real life.

Sounds good to me (especially the part involving the Church of Blood).

Yep! I figured that would be more of Trigon's style, to be appeased with human sacrifice. That would also explain why the Church of Blood's members are condemned as heretics by Catholic, Eastern Orthodox and Protestant alike.
