EDIT: Also...wow...Full-view is tiny. Download to see anything of moderate size.So, while looking at Sending (Star-Seal's character) I decided I wanted to know what height she would be relative to Frost.
And once I did that, I thought it would be a good idea to compare him to some of the other characters I'd seen.
And once I did that, I decided it would be fun to do ALL of the characters who are in the competition.
Soooo...6 down...58 to go...
I swear, I'm like a mouse with a cookie.
Please forgive the poor quality. I did most of these at work, in between evaluating data for a Feasibility Study project. Not exactly conducive to high-class drawings. Mostly I just wanted to get a rough idea of how the characters would translate in height/build once rendered in my own style.
Characters not done in any particular order, other than what I had in my favorites. I will continue to add characters as I have time.

Yup! Once they're all done I'll post the (massive) full line-up. It should give people a quick reference regarding how their characters match up relative to others. Not exact, by any means, but at least close.

Sure thing! It's any easy thing not to think about, but it can make a big difference in real life. I actually made Frost, my character entry, just slightly shorter than average and then wondered what kind of difference it would make. Apparently a lot, since we have a lot of people with characters over 6 ft tall!!

Neither did I. I think a lot of people didn't realize how large 6'4" or 6'2" really is. Average male is about 5'8" or 5'9"...and yet, so far almost every character I've worked on is at LEAST 6'3".

My dad is 6' 2", and he is a tall, imposing guy. I can't even imagine what 6' 4" would look like.

I had the same thought. Normally I just make everyone the same size, but in sizing an opponent up, people make a big deal out of height. For good reason, too, because the taller you are, the more reach you have. The smaller you are, the better your center of gravity location is, and the harder you are to hit close-in. So I thought - you know, since I've purposefully made Frost short-ish, let's see how he looks compared to everybody else.
Turns out, almost everyone else is GIANT.

That actually makes more work for me, because before I could just search "Oberon's Garden" and draw whatever character came up. Now I have no idea who got in, so I have to guess-timate, or just draw designs that look fun.

I can make it easier...I've got a collections folder with the character ref sheets of other contestants...I'll clean it out a bit and make it just the reference sheets for ya...it also helps me when I'm facing them ^^

Everybody is huge! I'm working on 3 more, and two of them are 6'4". Meanwhile Frost's measuring in at a scrawny 5'6"...He's like, a midget compared to everybody. Except for small children. Who he won't fight unless he has to.

I thought it would come in handy. I'm hoping I can get it done quickly enough that anybody in the competition can use it as a reference, regardless of who they're up against.
I made Hector a little bit buffer than a lot of the others. He seems to have some meat on his bones. I hope that's okay. I toned it down from my pencils in the inking stage. Man was BUFF.
