Description
This is one of my fleet's two Dictator-class cruisers, the Spectre. Dictators are fleet carriers, meant to deliver ordinance such as fighters, bombers, and torpedoes, but their armament is too weak to actually enter the battle. Their place in my grand cruiser squadron is behind the Ghost of John and the Animus Exsequor, my two hard hitters. The Spectre and her sister ship, the Revenant, provide fighter and torpedo support for themselves and the two grand cruisers, intercepting enemy torpedoes and bombers, and launching opportunistic bombing raids after enemy carriers have been crippled or destroyed.Related content

Here's something about it's weapons. Well, it's attack craft, anyway. Fluff says Attack Craft squadrons are made of wings of about 15 interceptors per wing. I don't know about the organization of bombers, though. Anyway, fluff also says that the average carrier holds 1,000 - 2,000 attack craft of various types (interceptors and bombers). Yet the average carrier only holds about two to four squadrons. Yeah, the scale of 40K is hard to imagine. Basically, if you took a modern city and dumped it in space it would be called a frigate.
Also, fluff-wise, a Dictator uses it's attack craft to flush out pirates and force them into range of its ship-board weapons, which decimate the pirate ships. The description of his ship by ROBOPOPE (holy crap I just read your name and it is awesome!) makes sense, though, in both mechanics and fluff. After all, most pirates are in raiders and as such are not exactly hard to kill with big enough guns (which an Imperial cruiser most certainly has).
