Description
©Copyright and ™ Trademark of the names and designs of Star Wars go to George Lucas, LucasFilm Limited, and Walt DisneyNote: This is just a little project that I have finished, before I move onto my AP-0-A picture, also, I am using the same Miniature Probot OC of mine for this picture.
Extra Note: Credits is the Star Wars Currency.
Update: I have changed the background colour from Dark Turquoise to White.
Update 2: I have improved the limbs slightly in length, moved the arm to the front in the middle section of the picture, and removed unnecessary parts that looked out of place.
Update 3: I have completely changed the arms of the Drone, so that it has original parts that are not rip offs from any of my other Fan Art Pictures.
Update 4: I have added the arm to show the side view of the limb, and I have swapped around the hand positions of the arms for the rear view, to show the turntable disc joint in action.

The TIE/D Balleye (a.k.a. the TIE Drone Balleye) is the Galactic Empire's simple answer to construction by robot, due to the lack of quick manpower around imperial construction yards and bases, as well as an overload of slow and out of date machines. In 3 ABY, after the events of the Episode V and the invention of the Imp-Pod, a clone of Grand Admiral Panaka (Grand Admiral Panaka of Legends and Infinities was so loyal to Sidious since Episode I, that Sidious offered the chance to be clone, and Grand Admiral Panaka greatly accepted before getting cloned) was looking at the construction of the Death Star II, and was very disappointed by the lack of progress and speed at which the rate of construction was going. So the clone Panaka got together a task force that was tasked to create a fast building mechanical worker, at it took about a month until they came up with the perfect solution which was: the TIE/D Balleye, which looked so odd that the clone Panaka had to look at it. Immediately he saw that the main body was the weapon cockpit of the TIE Experimental M1/TIE Bizarro, but without the turbo laser at the front and a red robot eye instead, whilst at the back was a two faced camera on a long pole for security purposes. Then the clone Panaka looked at the front again and asked: 'why the opening porthole?', to which an mechanic replied 'for the Miniature Arakyd Viper Probots to come out and unfold to reveal its true glory, inspect progress of imperial areas, and go out on patrols.', which was a response that the clone Panaka was impressed of. The camera with two lenses on the back pleased the clone Panaka, as he said 'this will be useful for catching off guard any intruders, who will try and take advantage of our glorious empire.'. Finally, he got to the arms and legs that ended in a single toe and finger, which he immediately realised was for gripping welding, and holding into place. Finally the clone Panaka asked: 'is this a drone?', to which an engineer said 'yes, one that will not disappoint you, let alone The Emperor himself.', and the clone Panaka replied 'excellent, I can see you all getting promotions from The Emperor in no time.'. In fact, just one week before the events of Episode VI, Emperor Darth Sidious/Sheev Palpatine/The Emperor was impressed by the single TIE/D Balleye, that he demanded the drone and the miniature Probot to be manufactured at mass will, just in time to finish the Death Star II, whilst promoting clone Panakas task force to an Elite Imperial Task Force (EITF). However, after the Battle of Endor, the temporary death of Sidious, and the destruction of the Death Star II that saw the death of Clone Panakas entire elite task force, that dream was ultimately dashed for good, until the clone Panaka decided that the TIE/D Balleye could just work on other projects, in order to help the empire fight back against The Alliance of Free Planets. In 5 ABY, one TIE/D Balleye managed to salvage a large train of scrap metal for imperial weapon construction, which was from a smelting plant from the planet Mygeeto, (where 8D8/Atedeeate was killed by a single R3 Astromech Droid (Robot), who pushed the evil robot into the smelting pit to destroy him (this would be fitting for a Legends version of him, since his fate is actually unknown, and whilst we find out what happens to EV-9D9 in Legends, then we can possibly assume the same but different fate happens to 8D8/Atedeeate), whilst a R7 Astromech Droid (Robot) also hepled out by luring him into a trap, and with the R3, helped with pushing of 8D8/Atedeeate into his doom), that had been supplying the New Republic with raw materials. When Thrawn returned to help the chaotic empire against the New Republic, he was so impressed by the success of the TIE/D Balleye that he said 'A simple yet disposable drone of a worker, that actually does as it's told quickly, the perfect replacement for old out of date technology, and a fitting way for the new future of the empire reborn.'. One TIE/D Balleye also helped the empire discover the missing access chute from the Death Star Prototype, which was in the custody of Nar Shaddaa and Shug Ninx of Corellia, where the empire destroyed the workshop to retrieve the access chute, before melting down the damaged access chute for imperial weapon manufacturing. However, things took a turn for the worst as the clone Panaka was assassinated by a Noghri hitman, whilst Mara Jade was killing the clone of Jarbakas and the clone of Luke Skywalker, and after the Thrawn Crisis, the empire looked as if it was doomed once again. But as time and events came and went over the years, the progress of the TIE/D Balleye didn't even get affected at all, as it did its job of building imperial bases and locations more quickly than the other robots, and imperial personnel that lacked way behind it. The Miniature Probot was also mass produced well into the trillions, to accompany the mass production of the TIE/D Balleye despite not being crazily mass produced as the Miniature Probot was, and as the TIE/D Balleye started to phase out all of the competition, imperial progress was starting to pick up even when events took dark turns. Even after the fall of the One Sith Empire, the TIE/D Balleye was still going as usual and without any problems hindering it at all. The TIE/D Balleye and the Miniature Probot continued to be used in service, well into 230+ ABY when a TIE/D Balleye with a Miniature Probot inside of it, both managed to get away from being captured by bandits (that were destroyed by imperial star destroyers), before returning to a secret location of the Imperial Remnant to build the Death Star IV. There is still yet to be some more info, but the imperial archives are slow at updating so expect updates, but in the far future in about ten years or so (but only in the Star Wars Legends and/or Infinities universes
Imperial information ends here.
So, what did you think?
I had to invent the TIE/D Balleye, since the idea of using the weapon cockpit of the TIE Bizarro without the turbo laser, stuck in my head until I put it into practice
I know there isn't much information, since it is a construction drone that most people are familiar with, but it is a great fact file history nevertheless
Also, the TIE Predator was also called the Eyeball, and since I already made the TIE Eye and the TIE Ball, then it made sense to make the work Balleye
Plus, this may sound like a copy and paste story of the TIE/D of the Pure Galactic Empire, with the same premise of the Death Star IV being built, but here is the main reason why. Since I did a Pure Galactic Empire construction drone, then I thought why not one for the main empire (as well as a Miniature Probot for the main empire, since they had a Probot the size of a Star Destroyer in Legends), which had the camera of the TIE/esc Pod (to show that the main empire also had that type of camera), and the Miniature Probot of the TIE Spy, with the one toe and one finger features of my most recent creations. Then I realised that the Death Star III story involved two World Crafts (planet sized space stations, as well as artificial residential spheres, of Legends and Infinities), one being given to Moff Artis Kane (of Legends), and the other to Ennex Devian (also of Legends) an imperial personal assassin of Sidious, who was trained by Darth Vader. Devian stole both World Crafts (one of which was going to be given to him, whilst the other was to Moff Kane, who was killed later on), and he turned one of them into the Death Star III (which was his, that was located in the in the spawn nebula, and was in finalisation as it was nearly completed), whilst using the other (Moff Kane's, in the Modell Nebula) to construct more imperial ships for his fleet. Whilst the destruction of the Death Star III (one month after Episode VI, and after The Battle of Endor) was a massive blow (same weakness exhaust port as the Death Star I), due to being discovered by The Alliance of Free Planets (as well as featuring a Galactic Tours 3000 Tour Ship, getting caught up during the mission to destroy Death Star III), in fact, it was a perfect decoy to steal (from other shipyards), build (from the other World Craft), and deploy more ships, that would fuel his reign of terror, whilst using Moff Kane's World Craft to refuel his ships. This story made me wonder, 'what if' (scenario) this was reversed in a parallel universe, like something for Infinities. So I imagined, in the Legends continuity with Devian using Moff Kane's World Craft, whilst converting his own into the Death Star III, the Imperial Remnant was constructing the Death Star IV in the far future. And for the parallel universe that is Infinities (of one of many parallel universes that are also Infinities), where the Pure Galactic Empire existed (in most of these Infinities stories), everything could've been reversed (such as Moff Kane's World Craft as the Death Star III, or Moff Kane taking the World Crafts instead of Devian, to convert either his, or Devian's World Craft into the Death Star III), meaning that the Pure Galactic Empire would make the Death Star IV, and not the Imperial Remnant of the collapsed Galactic Empire (as well as collapsed Fel Empire and collapsed One Sith Empire), and that is how I worked it all out for fun and make believe 'what if' scenarios. However, what if the Pure Galactic Empire existed in the Legends Universe, as well as what if both the main empire and the Pure Galactic Empire were building a Death Star IV themselves, meaning two Death Star IVs
Finally, even though the Probot is not the same as the one in Episode V, the giant Probot of Legends has a lot of different features to the original from Episode V, and this is what inspired me to draw the Miniature Probot, so I could complete the size differences.
Oh, and since most of us know the fate of EV-9D9, I decided to do a made up fate for 8D8/Atedeeate, since there is no Legends and no Infinities account of his fate, whist Canon said he just got shut down and left to rust in Jabba's Palace alongside EV-9D9, which in my personal opinion just sucks.
Anyway, I am glad that both Imperial factions have Probots of different shapes and sizes.
