The TIE Spy was the Pure Galactic Empire's answer to building the ultimate stealth craft that could infiltrate and sabotage the enemy. Rolling off the factory line in 52 ABY, the TIE Spy was yet another inspiration of the TIE/esc Pod, which had the CIS Chameleon Droid (Robot) Stealth Cloaking System that made the ship invisible, due to filters of the System's technology. However, only the best known infiltrators and spies were allowed to pilot the TIE Spy, and the Pure Galactic Empire decided to use Pure Galactic Imperial Spies (posing as TIE Pilots), Storm Commandos, and Shadow Stormtroopers to pilot it. Inside the TIE Spy were also two miniature versions of the Arakyd Viper Probe Droid (Probot) (the size of the Mark IV Sentry Droid (robot)/IM4, that was seen in Episode IV on Tatooine, which was a smaller version of the ones used by the Galactic Empire before the Battle of Hoth in 3 ABY), that was also released off the production line the same year, and it was deployed out of an opening hatch at the near bottom at the back of the ship (hence the hexagonal cross on the back of the ship on the right part of the picture), as well as the top of the front. Each imperial ship deployed about 66 TIE Spy ships (each with 2 Miniature Probots), to be sent to different parts of the galaxy to find out what everyone is up to, since it had a hyperdrive system on board more advanced than anything seen in the galaxy. Upon arrival at the destination, the pilot inside would activate the cloaking device and release the Probot (which unfolds and reveals all of itself from inside its body) into the area, with missions to collect samples, sabotage, assassinate, and gather information about the enemy factions. A camera would feed information to the pilot of the TIE Spy on the main screens inside, and after the correct amount of percentage of the mission had been completed, then the Miniature Probot would make its way back the the TIE Spy, which would deactivate its cloaking device, and hightail it out of there to a Pure Galactic Empire Safe Zone. If discovered and being hacked, the Miniature Probot would self-destruct by itself, leaving the TIE Spy enough time to get out of the area quickly and back to base of operations. A TIE Spy is equipped with a medium ion cannon and two laser cannons to use against enemy craft if discovered, making a quick getaway whilst the stunned ship didn't know where it went whilst the destroyed ships would not report back to HQ if it was destroyed quickly. Sometimes, the mission required the TIE Spy to infiltrate whilst cloaked (even if the Miniature Probot was deployed), as it could use the ion cannon to immobilize key targets before destroying them with the laser cannons with ease. The percentage of successfully completed missions by the TIE Spy and the Miniature Probot ranged, from 35% to 66%, even if the TIE Spy had been discovered let alone had lost its Miniature Probot during the often long, complex, and secret mission. The TIE Spy and the Miniature Probot (which was manufactured into the trillions) continued to be used, even as far as 400+ ABY, when one TIE Spy with its Miniature Probot discovered a secret base on Rhen Var that housed an energy source, that the Pure Galactic Empire nicknamed: Magic. There is still yet to be some more info, but the imperial archives are slow at updating so expect updates, but in the far future in about ten years or so (but only in the Star Wars Legends and/or Infinities universes
Imperial information ends here.
So, what did you think?
I wanted the idea of a Spy TIE to exist, as this would be a challenge to all factions that oppose the Pure Galactic Empire.
Finally, even though the Probot is not the same as the one in Episode V, the giant Probot of Legends has a lot of different features to the original from Episode V, and this is what inspired me to draw this OC Miniature Probot of mine, so I could complete the size differences.
Anyway, I am glad that this Imperial faction has Probots of different shapes and sizes, and I will do this for the main Galactic Empire of the future.
