Description Chapter 2: Dreaming Dangerously

The pain of the bite has been hard to manage throughout the day, didn’t want to see the doctor or tell anyone about it because well I doubt they will believe it when I tell them that I was bitten by some canine in my dream and a man bandaged it up in said dream. If you ask me that’ll be a ticket straight to the asylum. At least it helps that I’m living on my own now so I don’t have much to worry about anyone in my family seeing it and starting to ask questions, that’ll be a mess I don’t fancy being in. The day was uneventful so not much really to talk about there, what’s important is the dream. So as it neared the night I decided to cut my day short and head to bed, if this Dream Breach was indeed something that can happen then why is it happening? Surely none of the conditions have been met.
“Well looks like the princess returns” Callis said, wasn’t expecting his voice to be the first I heard nor did I hope.
“I came here willingly because there are some things I want to know, not because I’m here to finish your little fairy tale” I told him but he just chuckled as he put a book he was reading down.
“Funny thing about this story, it’s no fairy tale. There’s no fairy godmother to come and help us, there is no true love, no magical mumbo jumbo happening, if anything this story is as dark as you can get. Dark forces on the rise, all of the ones you grew up to know dying in front of your eyes, the world dying the longer this disease is residing here in the dream. If this is a fairy tale to you I’m afraid what a story of this caliber is to you” he replied to me, getting up from his seat and pacing around the shack that they had taken residence in.
“Where’s Soren? Shouldn’t he be here as well?” I asked him, I wasn’t in the mood to hear anymore of Callis’ ramblings.
“Oh I’m sure you would love to talk to him again, well hate to break it to you but he’s off scouting the area so it looks like you are stuck with me for the time being” he told me casually, I tried to get up but the pain stopped me from doing so.
“Leg still hurting I see, it’s painful isn’t it. Hate to break it to you darling but taking part of this story means that you are going to feel pain and lots of it” he told me walking towards an unstable looking bookshelf and browsing through the selection of books “but don’t worry, the pain goes away when you go back to reality. Must be great living there, everything regular and ordinary, no evil beings, superpowers, nothing.”
“Speaking of the wound that’s why I came back here” I told him as calm as possible but he was starting to get on my nerves a bit,
“Let me get this straight, you came back here just so you can feel the pain coursing through your veins again? You are quite the character” Callis said, pulling out a book and heading back to his little chair.
“Alright wise guy, then explain how the wound transferred to reality, thought full control or me defeated were required for this Dream Breach thing of yours to happen and to my knowledge none of those requirements happened yet” I exclaimed, stopping him in his tracks. Clearly there is some way of stumping this guy.
“Not possible, shouldn’t have been able to happen. The dream and the real world are still separated or else they would’ve all gotten out by now. Unless there is a crack, but why on earth would there be a crack?” he pondered to himself, trying to figure out how what happened happen.
“Well seeing as you have no idea of how this all happened why don’t you just heal me and I’ll be on my way” I told him for I clearly wasn’t going to get any answers anytime soon.
“Funny you should mention that for you see my brother is the only one that knows how to heal around here. Me, I don’t fancy myself as a healing-type of guy,” he told me as he head towards the door “, however if you are really persistent on getting patched up and leaving then let’s go look for the bugger shall we?”

We’ve walked for awhile in the dark, barren woods and the sight wasn’t that pretty to enjoy. The trees appeared to be dead and void of life, the grass was dark and grey as if they had been covered in the ashes of the life that is no longer here, bones of the fallen laid on the ground scattered throughout the area. Throughout the walk we both stayed quiet as I wasn’t feeling like talking to Callis and I’m pretty sure he didn’t even want to talk to me at all, all that there was were the noises of whatever inhabits the forests and the occasional winces of pain due to the bite in my leg.
“Doesn’t make sense, we should’ve found him by now” Callis said as he broke the silence between us, we have been walking for quite a long while and I for one was getting tired.
“Maybe he went back to the cabin, we should head back to check” I told him as I turned to head back however he grabbed my arm and yanked me back to the spot I was in.
“Even if he went back there, is it worth checking? Not to mention we promised to only scout in a certain radius, beyond that radius we know nothing of what it contains. We only came after you because as far as we know you are the only one you can give this story an ending. Speaking of which that is why I am worried, we are already past the radius and if he was focused on the barrier he made an alert would’ve gone off so that means that more or less likely he is in danger” he told me as he continued walking with my arm still in his grasp. We walked for what felt like hours as we treaded through the dead woods, multiple times I wanted to turn back but he kept on insisting we go forwards. At this time the blood was beginning to soak through the bandages and the pain was intensifying, I needed to rest soon but it was clear he would not rest until we found him so no use trying to convince him with that. Just as it seemed that this was a complete waste of time we came to a clearing and that was where we stopped. We found him but he was indeed in danger, in danger of possibly dying.

“Come on little Soren, tell me where the girl is and I may let your scurry back to your little shack” a big, massive figure said to Soren as he knelt down in front of him tilting his head up words, he was draped in a long, brown trencoat, a brown hunters hat on top of his head covering most of his facial features. He had multiple hunting tools on him by the looks of it; spears, a rifle, knives, and a bow with arrows.
“Look I told you already she went back to her world, there’s nothing more to say. She’s gone, no longer here alright”Soren said, coughing a bit as blood dripped down his chin as his face was battered and bruised more or less from the man who was speaking to him.
“However if my Caliberus’ are correct then you were the last one to come in contact with her so surely you know where she last was when she awoke so we can go and throw her a little welcome party,” he told him as he hold a knife to his throat “Speak now or you are going to see where dreams like you end up when they die”.
“Great, just what we needed, a Villain patrolling these woods. From the sounds of it he was probably the one that sent the Caliberus the other day. We should get going, Soren’s not going to save himself” Callis whispered to me as he was about to go into the clearing but I stopped him.
“Are you sure, aren’t they the ones that caused of this in the first place?” I asked him, unsure about going against something that seems to have control over whatever these things are.
“While that is true it is also true that they are the ones we are supposed to be fighting against so might as well deal with one now to save us the hassle in the future” he told me as he made a step forward to the clearing.
“It’s clear that we are in no condition of fighting him though, I can’t do anything whereas you seem to only be able to control plants from our last experience” I retorted causing him to take a step back.
“Well maybe if you weren’t so set on ignoring this dream we will both be in a better condition of fighting him!” he yelled as a insectoid figure rose behind him with two large pincers opening and closing as the chittering noise coming from it was quite. I stood there staring at it as Callis seemed to stay oblivious “What is it now princess? Was I too mean, well sorry but that is how one must be to stay alive in this dream,” he said as all I could mutter was a simple behind you, he turned around and saw the insect monster “, this day is just full of surprises isn’t it”.

“Well, well, well. Look at what we have here Soren if it isn’t your brother Callis and oh look who he brought with him. The girl,” the man said as the insect carried us out into the clearing in its pincers “We overheard your little argument and all we needed to do was wait for Scorica to bring you two out of your little hiding place. Drop the girl,” he told the insect, which was apparently called Scorica, as it dropped me onto the ground. The man walked towards me, grabbing me by the neck and lifting me up with ease “One of my Caliberus gave you quite the nasty bite on your leg didn’t it? No matter, the master will be pleased to see that the hunt was a success. As for the other two, dispose of them as they won’t be a use to use any more” he said as he walked towards a cage in the back of a wagon and threw me in it, the gate locking and closing itself as the beasts closed in on Soren as the pincers crushing in on Callis, but I had a feeling that he had everything covered.
Just as the wagon was about to set off two large vines emerged from the ground and smashed into the wagon smashing it apart as the man snarled in anger. More greenery attacked the beast, a giant fly trap emerging from behind the Scorica and began to eat it as Callis dropped from the pincers and more vines dealing with the Caliberus as they wrapped around them and dragged them into the ground. However such an event wasn’t going to go notice by the man as he grabbed his rifle and aimed it at Callis. Before he could react the man shot him in the shoulder causing extensive bleeding as he hold his shoulder in pain, trying to save himself he used his powers to call upon some vines but the man merely cut them down with his knife and continued to advance towards Callis who at this moment was beginning to back away
“Heh, you and your little plants. Always getting in my way. You are such a pain you are, however now that I have you here it’s time to end this little game of yours” he said throwing the knife into his leg causing him to fall to the ground in pain “Oh poor little Callis, you were always a brash little one. Never knew how to stay in your place you did” he continued, getting closer to him as he tried to crawl to safety.
I looked towards Soren who was sitting there on the ground still weak from previously but I was seriously hoping that he could do something about this situation with what little strength he may have left. We’ll need all the help we can get here.
