I watched Ada walk down the hallway. As usual she was dancing to the music blasting in her ears. Well, it's called dancing but… I smiled. She's so funny.
I kept to the shadows as I followed her. She's totally oblivious. I thought she'd learn by now. I slipped behind her then patter her back. She jumped, making a hilarious noise, then looked like she would smack me. "Kane! You want me to shoot you?!" she shouted, pulling off her headphones.
"You already have, remember?" I smiled. She folded her arms and continued walking.
"Well, what do you want?" she asked pretending she didn't just squawk like a pigeon.
"Nothing. Just came to say hello." She looked away. It gets awkward between us these days. "So… got anything planned today?" I asked her.
She shook her head, smiling slightly. "No, why?"
"Wanna spar?" She nodded and slowly took my hand. I was about to pull away but stopped myself. I have to get used to this if we're going to be together. Still wasn't sure… if I wanted that.
I let go or her as we walked into the training room. It was empty, thank god. I turned to Ada. "Ready?"
She took out her gun, "Only always." Smoke burst into the room as I threw the smoke bomb to the ground. I heard Ada coughing then swearing. "Kane! Are you ever gonna fight straight up?!"
I smiled heading towards her voice. "Little Ada, I would not face you're guns with just a sword at my side."
"Little?! Wait… was that some kind of sick joke?!"
"Depends on how you interpret it." Bullets flew by me, narrowly missing my arm. She's good, I'll give her that. I slowly circled around her. I could make out her shape as she swerved in a circle, trying to spot me.
"Ada, I have to ask you something." I dove to the side as she pointed and shot the gun at me. I landed silently and sighed. "About last night…"
"We didn't do anything!" she yelled. Bullets whizzed past my hair.
"I know. But did you mean that kiss?" She didn't say anything. I lost sight of her. My grip on my sword tightened as I searched through the smoke. This wasn't a good sign, right? I knew it. Try to get close to someone you'll just end up-
"Y-Yes…" she murmured. I stopped. I saw her standing a few feet in front with her back to me, the gun held loosely in her hand.
"You hesitated."
"I-I know… but I'm not used to this kind of thing."
"Neither am I." I walked towards the door, the smoke dying down.
"Kane!" I walked out, leaving her standing there.

I'm such an idiot. Why am I doing this to myself? I didn't come her to fall in love, I came here to… I don't even know anymore. I avoided Ada every time I saw her. I know it was childish but…
I stopped. Ada was coming down the hall towards me. I looked around for an escape and found a window. I opened it quickly and got on the ledge. I was about to grab onto the edge, but she grabbed my hand first.
"So this is how you treat people? Lead them on, act like you care then just disappear?" she said. I didn't turn to her.
"Yeah, Ada, that's me," I muttered.
She pulled me out the window and made me face her. "Did you mean that kiss?" I stared at her. Why are you doing this to me, Ada? Can't you see that I don't want to care about anyone anymore? In the back or my head though, I knew that wasn't true. Who am I trying to fool? Her, or myself?
I sighed. "Yes."
"You hesitated."
I smiled slightly, "Had to clear some things up."
"All clear?"
"Yeah."

I pulled her into my arms and we kissed.
