Description
Rai strengthened his stance as shadows circled around him. His breathing was steady as they condensed a few feet in front of him. The blackness swirled together, forming the shape of a man. Rai tightened his jaw. He would make sure this was the last time Lendax attacked the Coven.
The shadows revealed the face of the wanted dragon slayer. Lendax smiled and mock bowed to him. "It's a pleasure, fearsome Rai. I've heard so much about you."
"Have you?" Rai said, circling Lendax. Lendax mirrored the motion, smiling the whole time.
"You're supposedly one of the strongest dragons in the Coven, right?" Rai said nothing. "Aren't you?"
"Enough of your games. You're not going to attack the Coven anymore."
Lendax laughed. "But it's so amusing." He stopped pacing. "You're going to stop me then?" Rai jumped at Lendax and sliced through the shadows with his gauntlet-like arms. Lendax dissolved into nothing, then reformed behind Rai. Swords appeared from under his sleeves and he stabbed at Rai's back. Rai spun, blocking easily.
They traded blows, both evenly matched. The shadows continued circling them. Rai then began to realize that Lendax was just toying with him, waiting for the right moment. The shadows formed into spikes, then shot at Rai. Rai jumped, then kicked off of Lendax's chest, flipping in the air, the spikes barely missing him. Lendax fell, the swords falling away from him. Rai pointed the sharp gauntlets down, and stabbed Lendax's chest. Laughter burst forth, then Rai was enveloped in darkness.
He couldn't breathe, he couldn't see. He lost his bearings of which way was up and which was down. He struggled to surface, to find light. He could hear Lendax laughing but couldn't pinpoint his location. "Dammit!" he tried to yell, but all that came out was silence. That does it.
Lendax smiled as he saw lightning shoot out from the ball of darkness he had put the dragon in. "What took you so long?" he muttered. More lightning burst forth and Lendax stepped back. The darkness bulged, still trying to subdue its prey, then it ripped apart.
Rai's true form came forth, a dragon of immense size with steel armoring his entire body. He roared, sending Lendax skidding back a few feet. Lightning burst from the dragon's body, striking the ground, causing small craters. Rai slashed at Lendax, slamming him against a huge bolder. He pinned him to the stone and roared, "You really thought you could beat every dragon at the Coven?!"
"No…" he coughed, "but that's why I brought backup." Rai spun around. All he saw was a small pillar of darkness shooting up. He looked back at Lendax, who just smiled. Then something landed on his head, and tried to stab a sword into the armor. The sword shattered and its pieces tumbled to the ground.
"Huh… you know, that would have been awesome if it had worked," Senkovah said.
Lendax sighed, "Didn't I tell you that wouldn't work?" Rai roared and swung his head, causing Senkovah to loose his balance. He slid off the side, then grabbed a spike on Rai's head and dangled close to his eye. Rai growled as he saw his new opponent for the first time.
"That's no way to treat someone you've just met," Senkovah said. The fire in his right eye flared. For a split second, Rai could not look away from the fire.
Pain lashed through his brain, then spread through his body. He roared in agony as it felt like his insides were burning. He thrashed his head, trying to get the cause of his pain away from him. Senkovah held on, his smile getting bigger and bigger as Rai's pain strengthened his power.
Rai slammed against the boulder. Senkovah pulled up, saving himself from getting squished. He stared at Rai's eye all the while, never breaking the contact. Darkness tripped Rai, sending him to the ground. He was blinded by pain as darkness continued to attack him. He could barely see Lendax standing over him. He felt his consciousness slipping. "No… have to stay awake…" he thought. He clenched his teeth. Now, there was no other option. He had to stop them.
The plates on his chest began to shift back. Lendax smiled, a sword appearing from his sleeve. "Just what I was waiting for…" he muttered. He ran towards Rai's chest as Senkovah continued to distract him. He glimpsed the red, vulnerable spot under the armor, then lightning began condensing around it. Too late. Lendax merged into shadow as the huge ball of lightning crashed to the ground.
An explosion of blue power ripped through the trees. Senkovah was blasted off of Rai and sent flying. He was surrounded in blue, too bright to keep his eyes open. The explosion died down as quickly as it had started. Senkovah braced himself for the fall as the sky got farther away.

Lendax materialized next to a tree. Blood dripped down it as he saw Rai breathing heavily, consciousness lost. He looked up and there was Senkovah, a branch through his shoulder. The fire in his eye was barely noticeable. He smiled. "You did well, Senkovah."
"Hmm," Senkovah grunted.
"Would you like me to help you down?"
"I would appreciate it."
Lendax looked back at Rai. "Amazing how people with incredible power are useless once they use it up."
"Hm."
"So," he looked up at Senkovah, "thanks again, but unfortunately we lost our chance to kill him." He patted Senkovah's foot. "See you around." Then he was gone.
