First off, this is a fantastic image. Wonderful transitions from one form to the other.
... The darkness of the background and the differentiation of styles really bothers me. I think you should hand-draw the background to make it match, the red and the black with the same medium as the subject, or up the contrast on the figures themselves so that they seem to belong together. The dark spots on the figure certainly don't match the black value behind it.
Even so. Wonderful imagery-- thank you for sharing!

it gets better with each reworking!
my only suggestion is to darken the female on the left's hair on the side furthest from the fire. it seems like this might help to integrate her a little better.
