Description
Star Trek has been around for fifty years and I've been a fan for half that time (I became a Trekkie approximately twenty five years ago, iirc).youtu.be/CWh8pyYtG3M

My favorite touch? The Klingon in the last panel, licking his lips.

Thanks. You're the first person to point that out.

Haha, nice homage to Jim Henson's baker falling down the stairs bit in Sesame Street!

Oh, maybe I should add that Jim Henson didn't actually portray the baker, in case that's what you think. Henson did the voice, but the baker was a stunt performer.

But it is him at the top of the stairs. I remember seeing a retrospective after he died and they said it was him standing at the top. Then the stunt guy does the rest.

Thank you. I'm glad some people get the reference.

As we celebrate this wonderful anniversary, let us also pause a moment to remember all the Red Shirts (and Gold Shirts for the TNG Era) who didn't make it.

Been a fan since '66... Now THIS scene should have REALLY happened in the series!

The Baker is a "riff" on an old Sesame Street gag. Well Done!

Correct. I suppose it might have made more sense to save this gag for Sesame Street's fiftieth in three years, but I actually had the idea for this mashup ages ago and now seemed like as good a time as any to do it. Thanks for commenting!

Can't have a Star Trek tribute image without shaky cam! : )
Have you ever seen the so-called "Stablized" Star Trek videos? They use software to remove the shaking introduced by the cameraman during action scenes, and it makes the actors look *hilarious*.

Yep! I actually discovered that video during the course of planning this comic.

I cry "foul"!!!! Everyone knows they'd use a replicator to make a birthday cake!
Nah, just kidding. This is pretty unexpected and awesome! Great job!

Ha! Shows what you know. They didn't have replicators on Kirk's Enterprise, they had food synthesizers. They also had a kitchen; it was shown in Star Trek VI. I know they must have had one during the original series as well since there was a scene where Kirk was instructing someone to cook their meatloaf in the shape of turkeys. Oh my gosh I sound like such a nerd right now.

Dude, you are a nerd. As are most of us on this site. Don't lament; instead, celebrate it! Life is short ... love what you love and be happy!
On the other hand, I must defer to your superior knowledge of Star Trek lore. I'm a little rusty on the details, sad to say; I got my series mixed up.

A righteous nerd, bro! And the picture's great, too.

I like how the color goes off-register in the second panel. Nice touch!

Thanks. To be totally honest, the off-register coloring happened because of a mistake I made, but it was a happy accident; I quickly realized that it worked to my advantage.

Funny thing, the bridge sets in the Original Series and Next Generation had very similar dimensions.

Sure, it looked small but well designed

You've captured the bridge crew perfectly (except for the baker of course, who is out of uniform).

Thank you. I like to think I did a fair job on the baker as well, seeing that all I had to reference were fuzzy YouTube videos.

Oh! To be honest, I didn't know a baker ever occupied the ST world. My comment was meant to be silly, rather than a critique of his appearance.

Oops, I was unclear, sorry. The baker is from a recurring gag on Sesame Street, as colleen-eris pointed out. Maybe I should have explained this in the description.
