For a long time now, I've been meaning to do a piece paying homage to Red Dwarf, one of my all-time favorite shows. Once I finally sat down to do it, this long overdue project really snowballed on me. At first I was just going to draw the boys and girls from the Dwarf, but then I got the bright idea to include the actual ship itself (which I don't mind telling you, with all its little details, is not the is not the easiest thing in the world to draw). Then I figured that as long as I was doing that, I might as well also throw in the two main smaller craft- Starbug and Blue Midget- for good measure. I guess I wanted to do the best possible job I could on this composition, in order to make up for all the years I'd been putting it off.

This is my favorite red dwarf drawing out of all the ones I have seen. Coming from a kid who started watching red dwarf at 7-8 years old and still watches it good job.

I like this pic I think it does a good job capturing everyones look, particularly little details like Listers jacket and Kryton's head.

Nice! I really like how you captured the actor likeness, but while still managing to convey your own style. That's not easy! I especially like how you captured Rimmer and Hattie Holly. And Lister's jacket.
And also the Red Dwarf itself. All those little 'lets just crash every space ship model kit ever together' details.

Thanks so much for the comment. I appreciate that you singled out Lister's jacket, since, even though you only see him from the shoulders up, that was perhaps the most challenging part of all this, next to the ship. Some of those patches and things are difficult to make out.

Yeah, this is a terrific series. I read a few of the novels, and I really recommend the ones called Better Than Life, and Backwards. I think you did a nice job on the artwork.

Thanks. I've read all four of the novels to date... one can always cling to the slim reed of hope that there will be more. I think you kind of have to read them all, starting with Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers. My only gripe is that all of them end on a cliffhanger, apart from Naylor's Last Human. It's rather strange that Rob Grant and Doug Naylor each separately wrote their own sequel to Better Than Life after they split up. I will say that Grant's Backwards is the better written of the two and more consistent with the preceding books, but it's probably also the darkest and most unsettling. At least Last Human provided some closure.
