Description
I know there are other tutorials out there regarding this theme. This one is different. Most of them use a twirl on clouds and difference clouds. This one is different.Sorry once more for the big file size (a bit more than 1mb) but I made it as detailed and clear as possible.
Total time: around 6-7 hours
Tools: Photoshop 7 only.
Requirements: Photoshop 7 only
Comments, critique, typos reporting
As with every tutorial, you don't learn from a tutorial if you just followed the steps word by word and left it at the last step. Go further beyond the last step and let your imagination and your ingeniosity (sp?) flow, this is how I got the idea for this technique. Also, please feel free to note me so that I can see what you created with this tutorial and contact me to tell me what you found out by going on beyond the last step, it is always good to share the knowledge.

Hey man,
this is an excellent tutorial. Everyone seems to use the twirl method which sucks, but your method produces a much better result.
One thing that would make these rings look more realistic is to try actual perspective (I don't mean just squishing a circle, a circle in perspective will not make a perfect oval). Just an idea for you to play around with.

Nicely done - this is a nice break from the more common method of making rings! Keep up the good work.

ingeniosity? I'm not even sure that's a word...
Did you mean ingenuity? Ingenuity *is* a word.
^-^ I wasn't even interested in drawing a planet, but I read the whole thing anyway because it was interesting!

Ok, now I'm sure I've read the whole thing, and you haven't got any perspective on it. A perspective would've shown depth, which means that the ring should get smaller the further away from it you get. I'm surprised you didn't add that to the tutorial, as it is pretty simple.

I should let you know that rings do not sit that close to the actual planet. They are situated a lot further away. This might confuse some new people to my account and i dont want that.. I want to bring to them not only detailed but realistic information. If you could change this tutorial by removing more ring or stretching it more then i'll be happy to add this.

somebody has done it my way! i hate twirl rings cos rings don't have lines coming off the edge. radial blur is a much better way. well done dude! oh ye, and good tutorial as well.
