On the south side of Highway 70 (across the road from the other Pendleton house) is this house. I'm told this is Civil War Era construction. Despite the old tin roof, it appears that it hadn't been vacant for too long (from when I took these photographs in 1992).

A little further west on the service road is the Camp Branch Cemetery. By the dates on the tombstones that are readable, the earliest internment was in 1852 and the most recent in 1961, but the vast majority were in the 1800's.

I did an Internet search and came up with missourifolkloresociety.truman…

where there is a picture of the same house. Apparently built around 1845.
