Schneithorst’s Restaurant & Bar, 1600 South Lindbergh Boulevard (part of the Bypass US-66, Route 66 network) December 22nd, 2020.

The restaurant closed forever at 3 p.m. on Dec. 24, 2020.

The Schneithorst was built in 1956 by Arthur Schneithorst Jr. In the 1930's and 40's, his family had run the Bevo Mill, a south St. Louis landmark.

I've seen an artist's rendition of the building that is to replace the restaurant, and I think it looks ghastly. I guess we must need more retail space since there is such an overflow from the malls.
