Not really a joke going on here, just trying to get a handle on character placement, font, and speech balloon stuff (still gotta work on it). But I guess the basis is Mighty's name accurately describes his ability but not his personality.And apparently he's near-sighted, I drew that paper ridiculously close to his face...
Guys, I'm really proud of those clouds...
I love placing inappropriately-sized loop-de-loops in totally inappropriate places. Seriously, those would be enormous back there. But they look cool.
Also there was a second little comic thing below this one, but I took so long to clean this one up that I figured I should post it on its own.
Care to guess what zone this is?

Its also nice to see Mighty hasnt been forgotten! Sometimes I miss the original Segasonic gang, maybe sometime you would draw Ray too?
Another part that amazes me about this piece is the texturing for the clouds and mountains, its never easy texturing things like that, and I gotta say, you did it pretty darn well on this! Keep rockin!

This comment means a lot, because I really want this style to give a Genesis feel even though the characters and environments aren't exactly the same. I had doubts about my ability to pull off this line-less, color-diven pixel style, but I've been receiving so much positive feedback that I think I can really do something with it

Depending on the profile you go by, that particular name could apply to Sonic, too 
...The clouds are very pretty. I like how you've picked up and re-imagined the Zone looks in general. This lineart-less coloring style works surprisingly well (not hard to see what you're looking at, and it reminds me of old official art). The font looks a little foreign in there, but it could be that it just needs to be a mite bolder.
That's got to be the Hill Tops (and the mentioned loop-de-loops make me expect the Emerald Hills to be on the other side of the rock formations)

I'm glad the line-less-ness is successful, it's a fun challenge trying to make everything stand out as it should using only color. As for the font, I do agree... It's a bit of a dilemma, seeing as the art I'm planning on doing is pixel, I'm afraid non-pixel font will stand out too much from the art and be distracting. But at the same time it's hard to make a pixel font more than one pixel thick without looking very chunky. I gotta figure it out somehow!

I liked that take on Sonic the best, honestly... Some shades to his character got lost along the way. I like how you portray them, the interaction seems very much "like them". ^^
Hmm, you may be right about the pixels. Might disrupt the "flow" if it looks too foreign because it's hand written or such. Pixel art seems to me like really tricky work. Well, I'm curioius how you'll go about this whole project. I'll be watching.

Yeah, with 20 years and over 10 adaptations you end up there. 
The Genesis era character is the one I've got the strongest attachment to (though I'm also one of the few real Sonic Underground fans), so I like seeing new takes on him that I can still recognize.

I grew up with the Genesis Sonic, so that version is also the one I can relate to most. Though I have to admit I hardly kept up with the series after Sonic Adventure 2, so I don't exactly know much else

Yeah, same here. Limited access to that, too. I am a bit out of the loop now; I keep track of the new stuff best I can, but with some new games it's really just to know what canon I have to consider when writing. 'Fess right up. XD

Haha, I mostly just read reviews of the new games--I don't care so much about their plots and such, since I've been incredibly disinterested in them since SA2--it's more out of morbid curiosity to keep up with what ridiculous gimmick they try next

I don't know the zone EXACTLY because it looks like a mix of zones, but by the looks of it Hill Top and the in the background is Green Hill, waaay out there.
