Well believe it or not, I've always had a perpetual inability to draw any Sonic character using line art--hence why all my fanart is lineless. Everytime I get a Sonic kick, I try once more, but crash and burn so bad I hafta lie down lololol. I been seeing bulgariansumo 's absolutely adorable Sonic sketches and wanted so bad to be able to draw Sonic and Mighty!This time's different cuz I broke the shapes down in a way that actually speaks to my style. Sounds pretty stupid but I'd never done it that way before hahaha. Previously I'd just break the shapes down according to what matched the shapes most.
Anyway, I was real scared to try it out again, but I'm SO SIKED with how these turned out. I don't feel like a loser anymore haha!

I actually think breaking them down into shapes is probably the best way to go about drawing characters like Sonic because they're alot similar to cartoons in that way (which I personally like to draw but any who) Good luck with challenging yourself! Hope when you give it another try it's less scary!

Definitely! It's usually the approach I always use, but the shapes I was using to draw them before this point just didn't work naturally with my style haha! Thanks, I already feel a lot less intimidated by the thought of drawing these guys haha!

Glad to hear it, Ironically seeing your works has made me consider trying to draw in color with no outlines since I barely do anything color related (but then again that's because I'm not a digital artist and my color penciling always comes out like chicken scratch.) Anyways good luck on your future works!

Definitely give it a try. Tell the truth I was stuck on black and white for so long, I couldn't grasp color use no matter what I tried. Tutorials could not sink into my brain hahaha! When you wanna create color works but can't, that's frustrating. Without drawing a sketch or any lineart first and just slapping color shapes around, the experimentation level is real high, it really felt like my brain was learning how colors interact, and how colors can be placed to help the composition.

I REALLY Like how they're broken up into shapes, it makes a really interesting look! Gotta say I love the top right sonic where mighty is shaking his hand, and hten the jumpingone! Naturally! I'd love to see these two colored hahaa.
What even is mighty anyway? I've seen him before but I have no idea what animal he's supposed to be.

Mighty's an armadillo! The red part of him is his shell. Outta all the characters his design is prolly the most unrecognizable in terms of what animal he's based off lolol (okay no wait, I just remembered Knuckles lol!)

Ohh! Alrighty! I see it now,.. sort of,.. ok not really but he certainly looks cool! I've only ever seen him in the comics? (Like, the art gallery in one of the sonic collection/gems games.)
I like Fang's design and the polar bear from sonic fighters! Fang was a coyote or wolf right? (I had no idea what knuckles was for the longest time.)
It looks so simplistic, but it's actually quite hard huh? I don't think I can draw sonic at all hahaa. But he's got interesting shapes! I really like it when his design is simplified, like it is here! Even though it's hard to draw.

I love all of their expressions! That last Mighty is so nice looking, and I love the Sonic in the second doodle from the bottom!

Yeah, I realized later I coulda drawn Sonic's arm kinda zig-zag, like accordion fashion, to better show his hand's getting hurt. But oh well. LIVE AND LEARN!! hanging on the edge of tomorrow~! (I don't even remember the rest lol)
