Description
Had a wig for his wig... had a brain for a heart.....hahaha
This is from one of my current projects I'm working on.
E.T.A. Hoffmann's The Nutcracker
Not a movie yet! But one day I hope I can do this version!!!1!1111!!!! weee!!!
Anyhoo, this is Herr Drosselmeyer, the freaking hardest character design I ever had to create!!!!!! All you future animators/movie makers out there (hint hint), if you really want to challenge yourself DRAW YOUR OWN VERSION OF DROSSELMEYER.
There's a whole bunch of things I had to concider when drawing him A LIST!! gaah!!
Here it is:
Judge's of the 1800's
German Fashion
Old-ish Man
Wigs!!! (in the book he was described as, "One couldn't tell where one wig ended and the other began" and also "no one knew were his real hair was, or if he had any!!")
Wise
Lovable
Trustworthy
Scary
Storyteller
Clockmaker
Related to Hans Drosselmeyer (in this version of the Nutcracker)
GAAAH!!! And it continues (I just forgot what else... ^w^)
But yes... JOY!
Christmas in July! How splendid.

I love the nutcracker. everything about it! the fantasy, the whimsy, the romance. the list goes on, just like your description of Godfather Herr Judge Christian Elias Drosselmeyer. If I had to pick a favorite part of the story, or the ballet it would be the mystery at the ending of whether or not the whole thing was real or a dream. I'd love to think it was real.
More to the point, I think your interpretation of Herr Drosselmeyer is absolutely stunning. He looks as dangerous and harsh as a kind word and a rose petal lol. you've really done exquisite work

I'd love to use the image for a screenplay I'm writing about this character. What do I need to do to make this happen? Thanks, Mark

I really love that phrase, "A wig for his wig and a brain for his heart." May I use it in the story I'm writing about the same character?
Great drawing, btw. I love the look on his face.

This is probably the most interesting version of Drosselmeyer I've seen yet, and I'm annually involved in a production of the Nutcracker.

He has this impish, twinkling thing about him. He does look like one intriguing character (perfect for Drosselmeyer's mysterious nature)!
Great job!
